On Contractors required to offer partner benefits

Many people here are missing the point. This is a case of the few (Dane County) forcing the many to their respective view point. As of today, domestic partnerships are not recognized by the state. If the many in the state wanted this, get a state senator or representative to sponsor a bill and get the law changed. Unless the law is changed, this should not be forced upon the few within Dane county.

It doesn't matter what deal the state of Wisconsin offers GM to stay at Janesville. The fact is GM does not need to continue to build as many SUVs that it once did. What is Janesville going to build? There is no other product within GM that needs a plant to be built in. I am very happy that everyone is trying, but some facts are difficult to overcome. It is not that GM just wants to close a plant, but does not need the capacity.

It is time for Wisconsin to really get serious about imparied drivers like many of our surrounding states have. After a 2nd conviction within 10 years, mandatory jail time. Get caught driving impaired while on suspension for driving while impaired, mandatory habitual driving elimination of licensing priveledges. Get caught a 2nd time, mandatory 20 years in jail. Wisconsin, get real with dealing with those who CHOOSE to put the rest of us at risk.

Unfortunately, it is not common sense. Most people don't understand at all. Why else would many support the supposed tax plan from Obama? It is not a plan, and more people need to go to his own web site and read his "plan."
On New Milton High School could add $1.80 to mil rate

It is time for the Milton schools to re-evaluate if there is really a need for the new high school. The previously completed study showing the need included the 1200 houses that were going to be built in the new housing addition between sr 26 and county Y. Only 5 houses built there and no probability of any more for some time. Do we still need a new high school built with the many people leaving from GM. For all who care, we need non-emotional re-evaluation of spending this amount of money when it is obvious the tax base is decreasing.

Why is it that the superintendent desires to create a new job when the school corporation continues to state that they are running short on money for current expendatures and cut the budget? It doesn't make sense. Why simply can not the schools and other governmental offices attempt to run a budget like private people must. Expenses cannot exceed income!

How would the college be "added back" to the community. The old buildings have either been revovated to new uses, or not currently able to be utilized for educational purposes. Who is going to pay? Tax payers?

Has anyone considered if the need for the high school is still valid. When the projections for growth were originally given, the Kennedy Homes subdivision was to add 1200 homes. 5 have been built and looks like none more until who knows when. Several other housing additions have seemed to nearly stop their respective growth. With the slow-down at GM, will there still be growth and need for the new school building?

Many people fail to have knowledge that the state of Wisconsin, along with some other states, failed to follow federal law that required the cross-check of voter registration rolls and other state identification rolls some time ago. This would not be an issue today if the state had done what the were mandated to do in a timely manner. But our state administration decided to not follow the law. That should be what is in front of the citizens now. The Attorney General is the correct person to bring the law issue, and to the courts since the executive branch administration (the Governor) doesn't want to follow the law.
