greengina8, you are perpetuating the myth. If you are going to state that you have "facts", provide the source of the "facts". No one should just take someones word for it. Facts from what source? What agenda? Agreed upon with some scientific standard? Global warming has not been proven, even thoug some agree with the concept. Most of us will not disagree with the issue that we should continue to improve our air, water and reduce consumption of natural resources. But, don't attempt the "Urgent Crisis" mode of global warming.
On Police: Woman drove drunk with baby in car

In Wisconsin drunk driving is a joke. It takes something extraordinary to make it a felony, with some real punishment. Nearly all of the surronding states file any 2nd offense as a felony, and if you have a 3rd offense in the 10 year period surrounding the 2nd conviction- you will go to jail. That is legislation that most of us would support. If you look at the statistics where drunk driving laws have been the toughest, there has been a decline. Time to get real Wisconsin!

It is not the states lack of incentives that makes Wisconsin rate poorly, it is the overall taxes, regulation and "red-tape" attitude that makes it so unfriendly.

What Todd Schmidt and most of the council continually does not take into consideration is the difference in what is legal and what is right. Todd is nearly always legal, but nearly never right. Do the right thing for once.
On Students, aldermen have different plans for memorial

What a disgrace! "segment the park" "block the view of the lake". this is a veterans memorial. It should be prominent and perhaps block a little view to ensure others see it for what it is. A memorial and testimonial to those that have served our country. But no, it must be embroiled in the political commentary of our times. Hog wash!
On Johnson Bank turns down $100M in bailout funds

Metromilton - please place all or your personal financial information for all to see in this forum. Yes, I'm kidding. But, Johnson Bank is a private bank. If you don't like what their executive may or maynot make, do not do business with them. Since they are not taking government (meaning public assistance) they are certainly not obligated to share any information with the public. I find interesting that you are jumping to conclusions that there is a problem with the executive pay. But, the bank is doing OK without the bailout. That should speak volumes as to their financial status and most likely shows that the executives are doing what they are paid to do.

The law is clear. A missed movement due to voluntary actions on the part of a service member is grounds for a general court martial for disertion. The soldier has stated that he has served in the past and is only now claiming to, some how, suddenly become against the war. That is not a legal, nor in my opinion, a moral right to not return to the obligation that he signed up for.
On Sound "no" to Clinton schools referendum

Thank you to some of the posts that go very far to show why our country is experiencing the problems we are. The partisan politics has ruined the ability for our country to get anything done, much les done corrrectly. Democorats blame the Republicans and back and forth we go. In regard to the Clinton schools and spending. It is not a partisian issue. The people that give the money for government (taxes) to spend said no! this is not partisian, it is the basics on how our government is supposed to work. The people vote and we move on. Why do we have the politicians continue to have additional votes. We, the people have spoken and re-spoken and some local cases spoken again. Stay within the budget, and spend no more.

I will add my "glad he is gone" to many of the others. I have a special needs grandson and the school was not meeting the requirements that the school agreed to meet with state supervison. After several failed meetings at the school, we attempted to meet with the Supt. He just refused to meet. Even with repeated attempts. Clear refusal to act. No open discussion, no attempt to understand and correct the issue. His refusal created the need for the state board to step in an force the required actions. He was only a roadblock. In no way did he serve the school, the board and most importantly the student.

Why, in these currenty economic times, do the school employees believe that they are intitled to an annual increase, every year, when the community that pays them through taxes are seeing pay stagnate or decrease, and property values decrease. It is irresponsible for the school corporations and the unions to make this type of agreement. This is bad government thinking. This is WRONG !
