On Local residents join Wall Street rallies

If the article is accurate in regard to what the local protest is supporting, they should remain a local protest. The need for our government to get beyond the partisianship and get to work is correct. But, to claim to support the Wall street bunch is dubious at best. They (the wall street protesters) are for all sorts of stupidity that has nothing to do with getting our government to work.
On Sheriff: Taser use on Wisconsin student justified

Many people who responded to this are way out of line. Being a past law enforcement officer, let me state a few points. Tazers are not in fact to be used in place of deadly (use of gun) force. There is an escalation of force guideline for most departments. Tazers have been proven to be used in place of other force (night stickes, PR-24, ect) more safely for the officer and the other person. The idea that an officer should always try to negotiate is just plain stupid. Use some common sense folks. This "student" was throwing over desks and clearly stating an intent on not cooperating. Should the officer tried to physically restrain this person? The tazer ended the problem for everyone safely.

There are some times when one cannot compromise and truely gain the appropriate goal. This country (both parties) have spent money that we did not have, could not raise through appropriate taxes, yet could not seem to stop it. To compromise and raise the debt limit without actual reductions in spending will only ensure nothing really is going to change and we will approach bankruptcy. We must reduce real spending, period. If not now, when?
On Walker promises swift action on Wisconsin budget

It is time for the Wisconsin Democrats to get a new script. It is getting boring to hear the same lines everytime they are interviewed. "Give more to the haves' and take more from the have nots' " Boring rhetoric. The taxpayers of WI have grown tired of giving to the work nots, and do nothings, but spend more money on us. Finally the taxpayers and not the "takers" are being represented.
On Walker to sign photo ID requirement into law

There is nothing in this law the will keep any legal Wisconsin resident from voting. there is no one that does not have a proper photo ID. How can they. You cannot receive Social Security or Medicare/Medicaid without an ID. You cannot receive any form of public assistance with proper photo ID. You cannot legally drive with a proper license. Who is being kept from voting?
On Analysis: Schools will be forced to lower taxes

Any time there is discussion in regard to the money schools spend someone always comes up with the "it's all about the children." A couple of facts in that regard. We continue to spend more and more dollars per student. Has the eduction gotten better? Why has the cost of schools continued to balloon? While there were many teachers that stayed at school during this years protests at Madison, if it were about the students, they wouldn't have been there on a school day.

What hard work is this loon trying to recognize and reward? Working harder for the union than teaching kids? His next statement of the board not needing this distraction is incorrect. Distraction is what this board needs. Distraction from trying to find a way to spend the money. Why do they feel a need to spend it?
On Law enforcement leery about concealed-carry legislation
Posted on May 16 at 7:16 a.m. ( Suggest removal )
The police chief and Sheriff are stating their opinions not based on statistics from concelled carry states that surround Wisconsin. The facts from surrounding states with required training prior to issuance of license to concealed carry do not show higher crime rates, nor higher utilization of weapons during the commission of crimes. Common sense folks, you don't spend high amounts of money to attend classes, more money to obtain the license to commit crimes. Facts are facts.
On Wis. Assembly passes voter ID bill

What a lame excuse. Will cause chaos at the polls. As a past poll worker I can tell you, the current system causes chaos. Bring a utility bill and nearly anything else with your name printed on it and that establishes residency? A simple, legal form of ID is much less problematic and simple for all people to understand. To claim that people will be disenfranchised is rediculous. Only the dead that are voting and those that are trying to cheat the system will be disenfranchised.

Gandolf. You make some very good points but they are out of proper frame of reference to how the 50s and 60s differ from today. Projects you mention, NASA, Interstate system, ect. were job creators. I will not dispute that! But, and this is very important. They were paid for, not with borrowed money, but with current (at the time) budget spending. Not deficit spending. The current proposals are borrowing money, deficit spending. Much differing frame of reference.
