I think his shirt reps the NY Football Giants. But still ... some interesting wardrobe choices going on there!

For a minute there I thought young Prince was modelling the Tigers' new unis for 2012 :)

On ECHO seeks contributors for Adopt-a-Family program

Posted on November 4 at 2:10 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

My wife and I have "adopted" a family for the past several years and will do so again this year. In the past we have dropped off the gifts at ECHO for staff to pass them along to the family. This year we are going to deliver the presents directly to the family, so that we see exactly who is benefiting from the program. We have always felt good about helping another family have a joyous holiday season; I expect that connecting a face to our donation will be pretty powerful.

On A very positive local purchase

We recently replaced our kitchen appliances. We found what we wanted online, then went to Rock County Appliance to get a quote. To our surprise, it was MUCH lower than anticipated and, as Steve said, there was no delivery fee. On top of that, RCA employs its own service staff locally, which none of the big-box stores can claim.

RCA customer service was also top-notch -- as it turned out, the microwave we chose was back-ordered (and the date kept getting pushed back). Not only did RCA keep us updated as to when we would receive our microwave, they also made a separate trip to deliver/install the other appliances so we could use them while we waited for the microwave to arrive. As long as we live in Janesville, we will buy our appliances from RCA!

On Swings and there it is...

I remember that game like it was yesterday. We didn't get cable TV way out in the sticks, so the radio was my window to the world. I also remember being insanely jealous the next morning, when a classmate who had attended the game and witnessed Yount's historic hit, walked into school wearing a T-shirt featuring the front page of that morning's Milwaukee Sentinel.

A trip to Glacier and Yellowstone is in the works for next summer. I'd like to see everything before I expire, but I think after those two would come Rocky Mountain and Yosemite ... although I wouldn't complain about a trip to any/all of them!

whitehse, good suggestion... excellent views from there!
It's been quite a few years since I have been to Allstate, but I was there on Oct. 9, 2001 -- just one month after 9-11. People were still pretty jittery about flying and anything related to planes.
I remember walking out of the backstage area and looking up, only to see the belly of an airliner seemingly graze the arena. It was unnerving, to say the least ...

On Hottest team in baseball...

kiowamohican:
I probably should have clarified my post a bit better to indicate that I've never experienced a Brewers hot streak like the one of the past month, and that I will remember this one for a long time because it was put together by "my" team.

I do remember Colorado in 2007 -- very well in fact. My wife and I were in Denver on Aug. 15 and took a tour of Coors Field. The tour guide, while informative and interesting, told our group numerous times that the Rockies were out of it and were planning for next year. (At the time I believe they were right at .500 or slightly below).

Lo and behold, no more than two weeks after that Coors visit, the Rockies took off on what I would consider to be the hottest streak I have seen in my lifetime (2011 Brew Crew included). Their run was indeed amazing -- I think they actually won 21 in a row toward the end of the regular season ...? Anyway, I completely agree that they ran out of steam while awaiting the World Series to begin!
