On What you need to know about Wisconsin's new concealed carry law

Really, "Schools, including public, private, parochial or tribal schools that teach grades one through 12. Colleges and universities fall under a different category." What about the young children in schools, both public and private, in the State of Wisconsin? Do they have the right to be free of firearms in their schools? Yes, there are schools that serve only early educational needs and don't house grades 1 through 12, to think that someone would put the clause of grades 1 to 12 in the bill is ridiculous!!! I am not responding for or against the bill, just that they people who wrote it should have done a better job!

On Residents offer money to help Janesville School District

Joel_Rogers, how do you think people will be able to pay this $2000 a year for their child's education? Also, the idea of $2000 being spent on Christmas is crazy. My child will not get a 20,000 car, when the concept of me even being able to purchase one is far from reality. I work very hard, 40+ hours a week, have for years. I donate my time to my children's school. I chair committees in the education field with no compensation. I have watched as my husband lost his job, went to school got a degree and still is not able to obtain a full time job. Most kids don't get $70.00 jeans or jewels and those who do are not the norm. I teach my kids to think of others, for Christmas we opted to help two families who could not provide Christmas for their families and who had it worse then us spending $60.00 total. My family chooses not to get gifts for each other, but spend time together. This year I heard of many families doing the same. I don't know what reality you live it, but it certainly it not the reality of many of Janesville's residents. If you are able to pay $2000, then please donate it to the district, but do not act as the judge and jury for all when it appears you have no clue of the socioeconomic impact that the past few years have had on a huge portion of community as a whole.

flyboyatjvl, did not state childcare centers did not have rules, but if you already have a center your children attend, i'm sure they have already thought about the possibility that Janesville would cancel classes and planned ahead. Just simply stating facts.

I'm sure many childcare centers will step up to provide care for school aged children, free or not.

Thanks noticed after typing post when I checked the closings again. I appreciate the early notice. Much easier to plan.

It would be nice to know in advance because many of the families go to work before 6am and many childcare centers close if the school district does, so what to do then go to work to have to then find out childcare is closing, so you now have to put plan b in action from work. If it is a clear decision just make it, don't nail yourself down to a time! not safe is simply not safe! many teachers drive a long way to come to work, so its not just for the kids sake.

On Two more take out Janesville City Council papers

Knowing Mr. Westness personally, I look forward to what he could bring to the city council. How about people wait to pass judgement until they have had a chance to hear what the candidates have to say. If you feel you could do better, please run, I would like to hear what you have to say too. I support change, now lets allow those who are not afraid to run have the opportunity to tell us how they hope to change the current system before we begin belittling them based on their employer.
