On Funding OK’d for Janesville skatepark
Posted on October 11 at 6:30 p.m. ( Suggest removal )
Stop the madness Mr. Leavitt! How many Janesville citizens will benefit from this park? This is a frivilous wasteful way to spend tax payers money! Then you had to create a wheel tax that is estimated to bring in $550,000 of revenue. Nix the park and that should ease your $864,000 decline in state revenue.
On How early is too early to snow blow?
Posted on February 1 at 8:39 a.m. ( Suggest removal )
I don't mind the neighbor getting up around 5 am to shovel/snowblow. But I have a neighbor who decided to start shoveling at 10:30 last night. He then got up and started shoveling again around 5 a.m.! WTF?!? Our teenage son got out this morning, got all the shoveling done in 20 minutes. We didn't get THAT much snow to require 2 rounds of shoveling. I'm sure today/tonight will be a different story.
On Boy Scouts collect groceries to help local food pantries

I think it is awesome that they did this-but their parents might reconsider allowing their kids riding in the back of a minivan with the hatch open or in the trunk of the car (with the trunk open of course) while driving on the opposite side of the road. Not safe for the kids-don't you think?

I plan on putting a little twist to our tradition. As my boys are 13 and 16, they will take part in preparing the big feast. They somewhat cook themselve now, but to know the basics of our traditional holiday (Easter, T-day and Christmas) menu and how to prepare it is in itself a life skill they can take with them. When they can't make it home for the holidays, at least they will have memories of helping mom prepare the special meal.
On What do you think of the proliferation of tip jars?
Posted on September 24 at 11:48 a.m. ( Suggest removal )
I waitressed back in the day for a Supper club and one Saturday night the "tip" I got was, "I'm not going to tip you because the way I show my gratitude is returning back to the restaurant for another pleasurable dinning experience." It is some people's expectation that they receive excellent customer service regardless if they plan on tipping or not.
On How much do you give kids for allowance?
Posted on September 23 at 11:29 a.m. ( Suggest removal )
If my children need money they go out and earn it by helping a neighbor mow grass, rake leaves, etc. I don't believe we should give children an allowance for making their bed, brushing their teeth, etc. Those are life lessons learned and become a daily ritual. (for most)
On Should city invite camping?

This is great for families with young children to test the camping waters before making a big trip out of town.

On Janesville City Council considers fireworks funding

"Give them whatever they need to break even." NO! I don't buy fireworks out of my own pocket. Better off flushing $100 bill down the toilet. If the city council approves this, they can apply a credit to my taxes as I do not plan on watching the display on the 4th.

On Janesville proposes new containers for garbage pickup
Posted on October 24 at 10:20 a.m. ( Suggest removal )
I'm not paying a dime for these new garbage cans. I'm already paying $40 year for the pick-up. Especially if there is the possibility of staff being reduced because the truck will be outfitted with hydraulics to pick up the can and dump it into the truck without the need of the attendant to do so.
