Interesting he cites Middleton and Whitewater. Middleton is in Dane County which is subject to Act 10 being put on hold and Whitewater is the school that none other than the infamous WEAC president Mary Bell works. Is it surprising one bit they have contracts all worked out? I don't think so. Try again Parr.

I'm sure the teachers want to negotiate their contract right now. That way they are first in line for funding. After their contract is finalized the board must go elsewhere to find savings. Very convenient. But since 85% of a district's dollars are tied up in salaries and benefits waiting until you have more clear numbers is the only intelligent way to proceed. I understand this is not what Parr wants but too bad.

Maybe fear if you'd stop vomiting your posts and read, think, and formulate you'd put 2+2 together. The board likely does not know what the state aid number will exactly be yet therefore they cannot finalize the contract with teachers. In years past they set their staffing levels and were then locked into that leaving the rest of the budget having to flex to accommodate staffing levels they had already committed to. It truly is a backwards way to budget but the board has no other option. They don't dictate to the state, the state dictates to them. And before you blame it on Walker, the budgeting process has always been this backwards even under Doyle the financial whiz. You know, if you'd pause for one second instead of just spewing you might gain a little understanding.

dodgeco, I don't believe the board knows exactly how much money they will have to deal with next year that's why. They can't have those items all "worked out" because they don't have all the numbers yet either.
