Wahoo . . . the system is more efficient. They're eliminating a truck and two people, according to the article. Doing the same work with fewer trucks and people = improved efficiency. Those complaining here about a few pennies per month more in cost are missing the forest for the trees.

If you leave your yard trimmings on the yard and compost at home . . . no need for a compost site. No need for the cost.

To repeat what Janesvillian had said - the City is under a strict mandate from the state (in other words, it's the law) that prohibits them from raising the general tax levy in 2012 and 2013. So how is the City "making more money" through the assessment process - if it can't make more money under the law?

Milton residents pay about $150 a year for pickup. People complaining about a $40 per year charge don't have a clue how great a deal that is.

Termites don't eat garbage . . . so not a dump issue. Sounds like the quarry needed rail which in turn used infested lumber for ties.

Good idea. I thought they should have done it after the last storm, but I suppose everything was frozen.
