On Could entertainment district help downtown?

Posted on January 6 at 4:34 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I just went through this area on my way to the library. The area in question is at this moment quite clean as is the area in front of Wiggy's which is always clean and inviting looking however the area in front of the bar directly on the corner of Parker and Milwaukee is disgusting, there must have been 10,000 cigarette butts lying there. Bar owner, clean up the mess your patrons leave or put in a cigarette butt receptacle the bolts down to something, yuck and I am a smoker!!!

On Social Security disability on verge of insolvency

Posted on August 21 at 10:18 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

Someone very close to me is on s.s. disability for an incurable disease. The person had purchased through his employer a catastrophic illness policy which would pay out should something like this happen. When the time came the insurance company pointed out the fine print, you must apply for S.S. in order for them to pay a claim, then they will pay the difference between S.S. disability and what they otherwise would pay. What a crock. I have checked and that company is well into the black. Maybe they should not force their clients onto the S.S. roles in order to file their claim.

On New law erects new barriers to voting

I have always thought that voting straight party line was lazy anyway. Know who is on the ticket and vote according to your views. It is not difficult to go through a ballot and choose for each office. As for residency requirements, again not a big deal. Absentee voting, another thing I do not feel is a big deal. So long as the new guidelines are made public long before the next election, they are fine with me. I believe that Mr. Cullen is making a mountain out of a mole hill with this one.

On Appointment of register of deeds questioned

I suppose it is no worse than being denied insurance because you have a poor credit rating, has nothing to do with your ethics in many cases but it is a commonly accepted practice. Many employers also use your credit report in the hiring process, in my case all that proves was that I had a messy divorce.

If I read this correctly Chasensky filed for bankruptcy not the woman who ultimately was given the job. I do not understand your comment dado4

On Teachers, Janesville School Board confront major layoffs

Would you not think our highly educated administrators would find a more diverse group to cut? Is it really a good idea to cut all of one group out and not touch other areas, such as cut some fat from the top? Why are their no clerical only positions on that list. Couldn't we cut some of those and make things easier on the kids? Maybe they are cutting these particular jobs in order to further inflame the public. A veiled plea, don't hurt the kiddies donate money! There has to be a better mix of jobs cut, this makes no sense at all.

On Ryan’s budget: Pain—followed by more pain

Posted on April 12 at 9:35 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

concernedperson-do you know him? I personally think Paul Ryan is a very nice guy. At least he is doing something and putting something out there. I haven't seen much from the other side yet except don't cut this or don't cut that. I commend Mr. Ryan for putting himself out there and working his butt off trying to make a difference. Last time I saw him he was looking tired, haggard and frankly like someone needed to feed him an extra cheeseburger, his job has got to be stressful and hard, for that I thank him. While I do not agree with everything in his Roadmap I do not have a problem with most of it and you cannot make everyone happy so at least it is a jumping off point.

Brown76, it has nothing to do with the ballot, they check you off when you get the little numbered slip of paper in order to get a ballot. I was number 261 today!!!!
