Yippeee! It’s Earth Day! I love this time of year and always take a vacation to honor it. I needed to do a couple of chores today to get ready to go. As it is supposed to rain, I did fertilize my lawn with a real good product. My neighbor mentioned the best stuff has a high concentration of nitrogen and phosphorous so that’s what I bought. It should also help to thicken up the grass growing along that stream in the back yard so there isn’t any soil erosion. My wife took the Suburban down to the mechanic to get her tuned up. My gas mileage had dropped back to about 8mpg a few months ago, but he said he could easily get it back to 10mpg without any problem. In looking ahead on the Weather Channel, it’s suppose to be cold when we get back, so I’m going to leave the thermostat set at 80. I hate it when I come home when it’s so darn cold in the house. Well, just one last thing, I need to put out the trash and recyclables. Because of it being windy, I put the bottles and cans (a couple of weeks worth because I forgot last week) in one of those plastic garbage bags so they wouldn’t blow away. I hope the recycle guy notices and it doesn’t get mistaken for trash.
Happy Earth Day Gaylord & Greg!

@yada: Two things; I have made a difference by serving on council committees (how bout you by the way?) and I do participate also by paying plenty of taxes. Fortunately, Yuri won't have any say in how my taxes are being spent. Unfortunately, the fourth place finisher will.

Gazette!!! How come the results of the "outstanding" write-in candidate were not published? Does anyone know whether he got over 10 votes?

@badgerboy: I agree about the wasting of money comment. The libs (aka DPI Tony Evers for instance) NEVER miss a chance to waste money on the frivilous. They seem to always be about making decisions based on emotions only and therefore they are generally wrong.

Several commentors continue to attribute this article to Beth Wheelock. Read closely, she did not write it! (Im not sure if she agrees) Please address your comments to the author Johnson and to Janesville 4 Change (whatever the heck the is/means).

So, let me see if I get this. If I'm going to have a family reunion, with my family that are responsible in their use of alcohol, I won't be able to have it in one of our wonderful parks, but I can have it on my lawn adjacent to the park, with all the same children watching? (How bout that for on of the longest sentences of all time?)
My parents used alcohol (responsibly), I and my sibs all use alcohol (responsibly) and my two chidren also do (responsibly).
Can we think of anything more to blame on society?

Joe: The process has changed. It's been taken out of the hands of a biased politician and handed over to folks who are unbiased.
Apology accepted though...

On Does delay on alcohol in parks make sense?

Delaying votes continues to give the Council a purpose for another meeting. Background checks for a couple hour alcohol permit??? You've got to be kidding! Let's get as many of those bad citizens on file as we can. I suppose next, some goofus will suggest that we have to register our firearms!!!
