On Janesville Jets offer exciting atmosphere

Our family attended the game Friday night - and we had an awesome time! My 7-year-old thought it was the most fun ever, and even my 12-year-old, who usually can't be bothered, enjoyed it and wants to go back ASAP. We didn't know about the tribute to John McPoland beforehand, so it was an honor to be able to participate in that.

Lost_city: I hope this activity is around for a long time. The parking lot & stands inside were completely full and everyone seemed to be having a good time. You should try it before you knock it.

hank -- thanks for the information. I hadn't seen that article and most people I've talked to that have taken the buyout have gotten around $25,000 and the car.

Joker & hankhill -- oh please. Of course they benefited. I benefited and I didn't even work there. But I'm tired of some people acting like it was a spa. It wasn't. So lay-off the "pampering" adjectives. And hank, you still haven't mentioned where you got the $100,000 buyout info from.

hankhill: "who yet got more pampering with $100,000 buyouts"
Who got a $100,000 buyout? I'd like to shake that person's hand. And you can tell the people who have never worked at GM, because they manage to describe the experience as "being pampered."
p.s. I never worked at GM, but my grandfather, father, father-in-law, etc. did. All of them retired with physical ailments from repetitive injuries from their jobs. I don't think they were pampered.

The problem with online polls is that you don't know who is voting ... it could be the same two or three people voting over and over again.

Thanks for the wonderful article! My son is in Ms. Gogul's class, and I can attest that she is one of the best! My 5th grader also had her, so I've had the pleasure of watching her work her magic twice. Thanks for mentioning all the kids; my son enjoyed seeing his name in print. See you at the sing tomorrow!

Obama didn't chair ACORN ... He never organized with ACORN. Ken Blackwell (best known for his dual role as Ohio Secretary of State and chair of George Bush’s Ohio campaign in 2004) likes to attack Obama with lies about his supposed connection to ACORN.
Fact: Barack was never an ACORN community organizer.
Fact: ACORN never hired Obama as a trainer, organizer, or any type of employee.
Fact: ACORN was not part of Project Vote, the successful voter registration drive Barack ran in 1992.
In his capacity as an attorney, Barack represented ACORN in a successful lawsuit alongside the U.S. Department of Justice against the state of Illinois to force state compliance with a federal voting access law.

On Apple for the Teacher: What Do Teachers Really Want for the Holidays?

At my child's school, the teachers place "wish ornaments" on a tree for parents to select. Requests include various supplies & gift cards from stores including Michaels, Target, Home Depot, etc. I've given gift cards for the last several years. For teachers, who often dip into their own funds to supply basics to the kids, a $10 gift card helps a lot.
