Oh, and I agree with the general theme of comments, that language should be required, but the choice of which one should be left to parents.

@hannah
Saying that Spanish is more useful than Chinese is short-sighted, in my opinion. While it's true that Mexico is closer, China has one of the fastest growing economies in the world, and far outnumbers us as far as sheer population.
I agree that today, you as an adult will probably get more use out of Spanish, but I would think that kids that are only ~10 years old now would see more opportunities by having an understanding of Chinese.

Ugh, uninformed people. Yin and Yang has nothing to do with religion, it's part of Chinese *philosophy*.
That'd be like wanting to ban talking about feminism on religious grounds.

So the website doesn't have anything newer than 2008 on it. Anyone have more recent info? I've emailed the president listed on the website a couple times, with no response.

@garyprimer: oops, that last comment of mine sounded aggressive, and it wasn't meant to. I'm seriously asking for links to other sites that do it that way.

@garyprimer: Any references to back up that statement? I'm curious, because I haven't seen any comment system which lists comments backwards.
Now that I just wanted to reply to someone else's comment, a threaded comment system would also be a huge improvement.

First my comment, then some basic suggestions:
After living in Janesville for 5 years, I've finally given in to paying attention to what's going on around me. I'm rather impressed with the Gazette's coverage of local news, and plesantly surprised with the adoption of online technologies.
Suggestions:
The comments are listed in reverse chronological order, which means that we all have to scroll to the bottom of the page and read backwards to follow the "conversations" in the comments. Please fix this.
I love that you guys use Twitter, but am disappointed that there is no RSS feed. I don't mean put an entire article in the feed, but at least give me headlines so I can visit the site.

@Minan: They never said the gun was illegal, only that it was found. It's not like "US Currency", listed right after the gun, is illegal, either.
