On Behavior ruins fun for kids

Having 3 kids that excel at most sports is great! I am the parent that speaks up to the father, mother, grandparent that is being rude. I have challenged a few to get out there and ref or ump. Most of the time it does shut them up. I have been at high school baseball games with awful, awful parents. One father sat right up to the fence and yelled every time our pitcher was just getting over the top and about to pitch the ball. Another time a mother got up to the fence and began yelling/swearing about a poor call. I was completely embarrassed for her/myself/and the team.
I always tell my kids to try hard, but most of have fun. If you don't have fun then there is no point to the game. Lose - it's no one single persons fault, it takes at least 9 kids on the field to play a baseball game. No one kid can be the entire team. Win - GREAT! Make sure to let the other kids know how much you appreciate their teamwork.

For two summers we had a french exchange student live with us for 3 weeks each summer. He was fluent in English, as well as, Spanish. He was leaning Russian and a couple other languages as requirements in school. BUT - he attends a private school. Janesville is struggling to make ends meet so we add 4-yr kindergarten and hire more teachers to teach Chinese? What about adding Japanese and Portuguese to the list. We can pay those costs with the tax money we won't get when GM/Lear/LSI leave Janesville.

hannah/pwrtrip - did either of you volunteer your spare time to help with the clean-up of the parts of Janesville that were devastated by the flooding? I think not. It is the city's responsibility to clean-up up the mess, but as a responsible citizen of this city it is your responsibility to help. Whether you volunteer or donate money - it has to be a "community's" job to make our parks beautiful once again. Since you obviously didn't volunteer don't whine and complain when your taxes increase because the city has to pay it's employees overtime for the 15-18 hour days they worked to get the job done.

My mother passed away and was cremated 2 years ago - her urn buried atop her mother's grave. During the burial planning it was discussed with our family by the funeral home and the cemetary about the restrictions. We were given the restrictions guide. We have violated the restrictions fully knowing that our momentos could be removed. That was our choice, BUT we also make sure that we maintain the site so that it does not disturb the maintenance crew or anyone else that may visit the cemetary. Rules are rules and if you choose to violate them you have to expect the consequences.

Too many personal feelings? That is what a blog was created for.....the personal feelings are not rumors - they are a reality. Schulers may be good and nice people but the fact remains that when you work for someone and are dedicated you should be able to cash your paycheck on payday not 3 weeks later....the workers have bills to pay.

On Council considers borrowing $15 million

camper61 - 1.4 for a ballpark......Janesville Youth Baseball is picking up the majority of the cost for this ballpark. JYB is fund-raising and selling the current property. It's time Janesville puts money into it's youth. Bigger, better ballfields mean more tournaments -- meaning more visitors and more money spent in Janesville. Check out the plans for the new ballpark....www.janesvilleyouthbaseball....
On Sheiffer accuses city employees of ‘character defamation’

We need a forward thinking City Manager, someone who has a "pro" instead "con" attitude. Someone that is going to help this community keep our kids out of trouble and give them something to do. We have made changes in the city council recently - hopefully that and a new city manager will move Janesville in the right direction. This town is anti-youth - there is nothing here for the kids. No wonder they all want to grow up and move away. It's time for Sheiffer to leave -- NOW!
On Should the city of Janesville reopen the upper road in Riverside Park?

Having a son that plays baseball - it is a real pain to not have that road open. We invite people from other communities into this park to watch their kids play ball, but many are discouraged because of the traffic situation. Many complaints. -- NO I'm not saying open this just because of baseball. I'm simply pointing out one more reason why the park is not very accessible. Why was the road dead-ended into the parking anyway? It's a traffic nightmare after games.
