On Janesville high school students to have longer days

Posted on May 8 at 10:37 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

The day starts at 7:45 for students.
Students done at 3:15.
Right now they start at 8 and done at 3:20.

Teachers will not be paid more. They are going to be paid less, less insurance, but work more hours in the day. Teach more classes and be responsible for other supervision duties.

I wonder why more and more are leaving the district.
Do more with less and for doing that, the district will pay you less.
What a great deal.

On Teachers union to school board: Negotiate or face lawsuit

Posted on March 13 at 3:07 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

The deal that was presented today was this...
Sign this contract knowing that it will change.
Sign this contract but we will not tell you what your pay will be.
Sign this conract without knowing what your insurance will be.
Sign this contract without knowing what your sick days will be.

Have any of you ever signed a contract to buy a car or house not knowing the agreed upon price and terms of the deal. That would be crazy.
Have any of you ever signed a contract to work somewhere that did not tell you how much your salary or hourly rate would be? Crazy.
Have any of you ever signed a contract to work for a business that won't tell you how many sick days if any you can have or if the ones you have built up will carry over?? Crazy.
These crazy teachers are demanding so much...
The simple fact is that the school board won't say a thing but want teachers to lock in to a contract they have been told nothing about. Seems about par for the course.
Let's go buy a house. Just sign here. Don't worry about what the price is or mortgage rate or payment. Just sign here. Makes sense.
Pitiful the way the board has handled the whole thing. It is what is expected though.

Feldt should step into the REAL WORLD in the classroom once and see what the REAL WORLD is all about. What a piece of work. He wouldn't last a day.

On District: Expulsions are on the decline

Posted on May 29 at 8:59 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

Ask any teacher in this district about how they feel about the expulsion rate. Should be 10X what actually gets expelled. Students can get away with just about anything and then get 2 or 3 more chances before they finally get booted. Teachers are tired of dealing with the students that are in school to only disrupt the learning environment. They don't care about their grades so they try to make it hell for everyone else. The district is afraid to have expulsions too high because they will look bad in the paper. Teachers and students who care are the ones suffering. It just gets old. Again I beg you to ask a high school or middle school teacher their views on this LOW expulsion rate.

On Janesville high school class sizes to increase

For those of you who have not heard what the Great Dr. Earhardt has done to the high school curriculum, here is a rundown. Next year no health classes will be offered at the high schools, two years freshman physical science classes are cut. Social Studies will be cut greatly. This is just a start of what he calls a better plan for students. What a joke. The high schools are going down hill thanks to the school board and Dr. Earhardt. Ask them about it because they won't announce these changes to the public for fear of losing students. Get out now!

What a joke this board is. Sodeman you are really something. Dr. Earhardt downtown you are also worthless. Changing the whole curriculum and also raising class sizes. Wow. So glad we school choiced to Milton this year.

On Janesville School Board faces stark choices

Posted on January 27 at 10:05 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

10% is not a total property tax increase it is just the schools portion of your bill not the city, county etc. I have three kids about to start school. Milton district now but were thinking of school choicing to Janesville. Wow not now. Can't imagine having kids in elementary schools with the class sizes they will be and sharing principals. School board screwed this up by not taxing in years past.

On Janesville School District estimating $10 million shortfall

Why is there nothing in the paper about the two people downtown who stated they need to have "Director" in front of their name and then justified each of themselves getting $30,000 raises just recently. Public should know about this one.
