Too bad about Ks. Great food. Great waitresses. I feel bad for those who lost their jobs, and, most importantly, for all those elderly folks who eat all their meals at Ks. Hopefully, Kay builds back!

Why are so many people anti-education? Do they not have kids? If you do, start homeschooling. That will solve all of your problems. Heck, it will even help the class size problem so new teachers don't have to be hired. That would make you happy, too.

One: Students have been crossing there for how many years? It is a controlled intersection with stop signs in all directions.
Two: They just want to buy that house (and maybe the one next door) to make room to build a new middle school, when all they need to do is gut the current middle school. They will NEVER be able to build a school as good as the current one. And it would be a pity to throw away all the money invested in it already with the multiple additions.

I never thought there was a person more evil, stuck up, or plain dumb than George Bush. We get you have an opinion. Fine. Stop ranting about it endlessly, especially in all caps!

Parents do, indeed, run the school system. It is not like when I was in school, and the teacher was respected. Look around as people complain about teachers. Teachers have a lot of pressures (No Child Left Behind, WKCE, administrators, parents, unruly kids...) and they are very rarely appreciated by these groups despite the fact that the teachers are responsible for giving these kids what they need to be successful. Did anyone ever think about how today's kids are the ones who will run this country. Maybe we won't ever get out of this recession.

Oh. No. Why did you open that can of worms?
Do they deserve a raise? Yes, of course.
Is it possible to give them one? Maybe not.
It is all negotiated per the union, so that leads us to ask what will they get in return?
Keep in mind these are people who are with YOUR kids. It is your kids' future you are talking about here just as much as the teachers' salaries.

1. There was talk for ending the September 1 law. Did that ever pass?
2. I will never vote for Debi Towns. Ever. Her record on education is a lot worse that Robson or Hixson.
On When do teachers deserve merit pay?

Surprisingly, I agree with most of what was printed today. As an educator, It would be nice to have our efforts acknowledged and/or penalized. Using WKCE results, however, is not the way to do it. That is very scarey. How many of you would want a 9, 13, or 15 year old to determine how much you get paid? Furthermore, the WKCE is not given in all subjects and all grade levels. How would a FACE teacher be evaluated? What about a fifth grade Science teacher?
