Was not at all surprised to hear that a local small gas station/company handed out Christmas bonuses to the "office staff", and absolutely NOTHING for the cashiers working the station on the other side of the wall! Got to love what America has become.

Food assistance users only buy fresh vegtables, fruits and meats as opposed to "junk" food? Yeah right....I only wish I could afford to purchase decent and healthy food! Have you seen the prices? Ever see what's in the grocery bag that echo distributes? Nothing but junk food and sugar items with next to zero food value. That is because healthy costs a fortune in most cases!

Jvlhomeowner, I can't begin to tell you how many people I know who lost good paying jobs with benefits and now work minimum wage "temp" jobs with no benefits. If it weren't for food assistance, no way they could make it. Don't know how they do anyway! You are correct, it's sickening to see all the comments that unfairly label those receiving government benefits (i.e. foodstamps/medical assistance)as being lazy or using the system. The local employers won't pay any benefits or a fair wage to value their employees..but they sure know how to reward themselves and their upper management!

When they build the similar styled nursing home in Dane County, they kept coming up against problems, cost over runs and moving the completion date farther and farther down the road! Our first year in the building and we realized that the "green" design and building to code was done all wrong and we had a flood in the basement anytime it rained! More cost to dig up the foundation around the facility to "shore up" the structure after the fact.

Seriously folks...Mercy has cut other needed services yet they can offer this rather expensive service free of charge? Ambulance chasing at it's finest....?
