On Do you know what today is?

Posted on June 14 at 9:54 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I know its not hump day because the camel did not walk through the office asking everyone if they know what day it is.

Greg, I think your headline suggests that you watch too much TV? Perhaps you should have named your blog, "Heat Awareness Day" or "Heat Can Kill". The latter drawing attention. At least you would not have risked sounding like a camel on Wednesday. (Just joking you know)

On 10 things to know for Friday

Posted on June 7 at 12:35 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Number 1. Remember when we were free Americans? That was back in the 1950's wasn't it? Now our phone calls are monitored. Our internet is monitored. And they are not telling us what else they are monitoring. And they say it is in the interest of National Security. Yeah Right! I'll tell you what it is in the interest of... Our rights as free Americans are being slowly stripped from us one by one and most of the time we don't even notice because it is burried in some other form of legislation. So the Government is now watching us and monitoring us to make sure we do not realize what is happening and rebel. Little by little we are beginning to be controlled like little robots. Our freedoms are being taken away, our jobs are disappearing, our choices are being reduced, our income is being slammed (unless you are one of the rich and priveleged). Terrorism from foriegn lands is just and excuse. They are worried about an uprising in our own land to take back our Government and rebuild it the way it is supposed to be. By The People, and For The People. Not against the people. And if I mispelled some words for you perfectionist, so what, you get my meaning.

On What should be the role of women in the US military?

Posted on May 24 at 12:32 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I agree with dtb, she does write better than Eyster. Of course in my opinion, everyone writes better than Eyster but that is beside the point.

I think women should be right along with men in any military situation. They are supposed to have equal rights so let them have the right to be on the front lines to combat also. That is an honor that should not only be for men. We would probably have a better fighting forse for it. Like vnvet7071 said, "get a woman pee'd off......." Stand-by enemy. There should be equal pay and equal responsibility. Especially since our military is strickly all voluntary now. If a woman does not want to get caught on the front line then she has no business joining the military. It is her own choice. Not like it was years ago when a man had no choice and was drafted. I remember registering for the draft but I chose to enlist before I was called. It was my choice and so it should be todays woman's choice. If she wants to join then she is well aware that she could be called to the front lines just as anybody could.

On What to do with dandelions

Posted on May 24 at 6:21 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

How to get rid of Dandelions? Why would one want to? They have so many benefits to us. For example:
Pretend they are yellow golf balls and practice your swing on them, relieve frustration by going out with a sickle and hacking their little yellow heads off, practice your dance moves while stomping them to pieces, get your neighbor to move by just letting the grow and multiply and spread there floating seeds all over his yard, make a patch and harvest them for some dandelion wine. I am sure there are more benefits to the plant that God put here for us to destroy. Is something wrong with this picture? Are we not supposed to be nature friendly? Only when it benefits us I guess.

On Wisconsin unemployment rate continues to drop

Posted on May 24 at 6:12 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

Garyprimer, I don't believe that Walker had anything to do with it. First off it is a "continuing a trend typically seen as local economies come out of the winter doldrums and move into the spring and summer hiring seasons." So it is the normal and no mater who is governer the results would be the same this time of year. Falling unemployment numbers. It just takes a desperate polotician to need to jump on the numbers and say, "Look, I am doing good."
Second of all only 1450 households are surveyed? That represents the entire State or even county? I think not. So we have no idea what the real numbers are. If Walker wants to look good he just has the right households surveyed and bingo, he looks good. Sounds like a political scam to me and of course a republican publication will post anything to make old scooter look good without giving the real facts. And to be fair, I am willing to bet that a demacratic believing publication would do the same. No matter what side it comes from it is just a con of the american voters. Make the politician look good anyway they can to cover up the crap that is pushed upon us.

On How to halt copper thieves

Posted on May 24 at 3:25 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I have a question? When these thieves cut the copper piping out of a house, don't they have to turn the water off at the main valve to do it? Otherwise they would get soaked and I am sure that would be an inconvenience for them. So here are the possibilities this thought opens up. These thieves are experienced plumbers and know where to look for the water valves because most are not just sitting out in the open with a sign pointing to them. Plus, what scrap yard would suspect a plumber for bringing in his scrap copper? That would be a normal looking situation to me. We have heard this story over and over again lately and have not heard one comment about the fact that this could possibly be a professional plumber. Besides, we are all expecting a middle of the night type thief, but yet a plumber's vehicle pulls up and acts like they are supposed to be fixing a leaking sink or something but are really inside setting up the situation to come back and get the goods. We would not suspect that situation because it would appear to be normal.
It is just a possibility. Want to protect your house? Put a cover and lock over the main water valve so it cannot be turned off. At least it would give you just a little better chance that the thieves would not want to deal with water spraying all over them while they are removing the pipes. Lock the valves on your water heater also. That is another point where a lot of water can be shut off in a house.

On An outlet for creative writing

This is nice Greg. And so refreshing to get away from the political and religious topics for while. Or at least where those two catagories can get thrown into it.

I looked at the website and it is very interesting. I really hope you win that ring. Too bad I am not a creative writer because I wouldn't mind one also.

Best of luck to you.

On Tears at the chapel

Wow, and the Catholics are supposed to be the largest and oldest religion? With beliefs like that I am glad I am not one of them. Besides, I was also told by a Catholic himself that they believe that you can sin during the week and it is okay as long as you go to the church on Sunday and you will be forgiven. What do you think Jesus would say to that one if he were standing here? I have many more thoughts and comments but I think it would be wise for me to just bite my tongue and let them answer to God. I am not their judge.

On Gov. Walker a 'walleye booster?'

Posted on May 23 at 3:41 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Hiredgun, so by your definition of OUR land, I am to believe that if I go to my neighbors house with a gun in hand and lock him in one of the small rooms and call it his reservation, then I should tell him it is okay because this is now OUR house and he should be proud of that? I don't think that would fly very well, but it seemed to work in your book for "OUR" land, right? You know, its a shame that my other half is German, part of a people who did the same to the Jews. Kind of pulls me in two directions when it comes to my family history. So which one do you think in your great wisdom that I should be proud of? And by the way, sickntired I am sorry for my spelling but I lived many years in the south and I have a slight accent from that. And besides, what word in your name is "n"? Did you spell AND wrong? Or is it slang also? If my spelling is all you can pick apart then what I said must have been right. Thank you. Even if I did say it with lazy backwards words. At least I said it and gave the bunch here something to talk about. So other than my spelling what was your comment on the subject? Oh, I see you had none.

humbird56, maybe your forefathers should have thought of that before they stripped the natives of their lands, thier homes, thier ways of life. I may not be full blood but I am close enough to be offended by the way you stated that comment. Think about it. Who's land was it first?
