On Janesville water rates could jump 21 percent in plan

Tough choices need to be made. You can not pass everything on to the tax payers. There needs to be a reduction in city staff.Other companys are laying off, its time for the city to do the same.

On Janesville Damon’s will close down after Sunday

Hey been there and done that....
I do alot of reading and appartenly you don't..the writing is on the wall for Sear's..unless Sear's holding's gives millions of dollars to there pension fund they will be closing store...no one told me that..I just read it..as far as Blockbusters or Family Video..why would they survive when you can order a movie on your tv...a neighbor of mine did work for GM and she filled out numerous of applications and well qualified for many jobs here and was turned down over and over again.... so she is taking a transfer and spend her money in a town that wants her money...she was told that she probably wouldn't stay at a place of business that offered her $9.00 an hour because of the wages she was use to making...hello why do you think she applied there...she like others do need work...all I am saying is that it saddens me to think that another business is closing here in town and our politicians arent' doing anything to see to it that business come here.

On Janesville Damon’s will close down after Sunday

It saddens me to hear that another business is closing in Janesville, Wisconsin.
As you drive around and really look at this town it is falling apart. If people don't see that they have blinders on.
Businesses aren't mowing there lawn's, neighbor's not mowing. Median strips aren't even being mowed. Some parking lots looking pretty empty to me.
No business wants to pay an employee what there worth now a day's. It's about the all mighty dollar for the big wigs.
Harley Davidson having problem's, Blockbuster closing on the South side. Sear's or Kmart will probably close.
I'm not a GM'er, but it sadden's me to think that company's here in town don't want those people to work for them. They would rather see them leave and give there money to another city. How stupid is that!!!
People need to wake up here and see the reality in this town.
Any one have a comment on what I wrote, I'd like to hear it.

What really upsets me is that.....we haven't heard a world from our polictians since GM has left....where have they been and why haven't they done anything for our town to see to it that there are new jobs coming here??? I will not be voting for them...:( Paul Ryan tell me what President Bush did for you other than get us in the mess we are in?????

On Janesville home values down

Hey dcsnick1,
This is into reguards to you comment about your home value.
My deepest sympathy to your parents.
I am asking you what makes you think that GM has anything to do with the decrease in your parents home???
Have you not noticed all of the problems we have had in the past 8 years do to President Bush being the President of the United States?
I live in Janesville, Wis. and only wish for the best of this city. This city will never change, because we have to many people that are set in there way's and don't wonna see a change here. It is sad to see that there was an industry here that helped keep this town going. What I see is that the majority of people in this town don't like to see people succeed. Why is that? I'm not a GM worker. I see this community as being a bedroom community and that is sad. There are so many wonderful things in this town that no one appreciates. Sure granted I would love to see new things happen here. But if people aren't willing to change there way's this town will stay the same. To me that is very sad.
So when you blame and industry that has been here in Janesville for century's you might wonna ask yourself. Why didn't people in this town do what ever it could to see that that industry didn't leave???
There has been so much money that has left this town. As you drive around Janesville. Look at all of the houses that no one mow's there lawn's, businesses that don't keep thing's clean, businesses that have left. Road's that need to be fixed, empty buildings. Is it because of GM, I think not. Its because you had a President that let things go to heck. That is what has happpened.
