On Citizens voice concern over Gay-Straight Alliance in Janesville schools
Posted on April 24 at 10:06 a.m. ( Suggest removal )
Well, first.... GSA is NOT a registered trademark of the Girl Scouts (GSUSA). That's easy enough for anyone to look up.
Second, I applaud high school students for standing up against bigotry and hate. High school should be a safe place for everyone to learn. Harassment and bullying should not be tolerated, but too often they are tolerated by teachers and school administrators. I grew up in Janesville and moved away when I was fourteen. I remember it as a beautiful place and as a wonderful place to grow up, but I don't remember it being the most tolerant place. I hope those of you who are in school now can help change that.
Third, in response to the "I have a family member who's gay and he/she is miserable so that's a bad "lifestyle"...." post, it's a shame to base your whole opinion of an entire group of people on one person's experience. It's like saying all women are miserable because your mother is a woman and she's miserable. You're the constant in the equation, right?
