On State union leader asks Walker for meeting

Posted on August 31 at 8:12 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Verbal is on to something. Lets pass a law that the way the state treats its employees is the way private sector treats its employees. The state employee will be the high water mark. from the Office of State Employee Relations the Avg. blue collar worker has 14 years of service and makes just over $15hr. and now can never get a wage increase over inflation. I bet private sctor employer will love that. Any private sector employee want this?

The result of the Tea Party and the republican holding this country hostage. They are more concerned about making the President look bad and are willing to hurt the people of this counrty to do so. I guess mission mission accomplished republicans. Lets not forget who owns the S&P, MaGraw-Hill, that after the Citizen United ruling will not release it s political activity. But before the ruling gave tens of thousands of dollars to Republican group when they had to report spending. Personaly I feel this country needs to stop overreacting to speculation.

On Are you rethinking your investments?

Greg, Do you think all people with pension do not also have to invest in the market or do not get uneasy with market drops? As a state employee I have a pension, but it will not give me the lifestyle I would like at retirement alone and my pension is invested in the stock market. I know everyone would like to think that all pensions are created equal, but that is not true. Mine as a state employee is not a true defined benefit. It moves with the market, it loses money when the market is bad and gains when it is good. The payout also can decrease when the market is down and it does not last forever. Do I value this benefit? Yes. Does it give me an advantage in retiernment planning? Sure. But, it does not mean it is risk free or I have no need to be concerned about market changes. It definitly does not mean I can just sit back put in my 30+ and live like a king. We all have choices in life. We can all choose a job with better benefits but we know it might come at some other cost.

This spending and polital activity by groups outside of the candidates is out of control. JSonline just ran a story about how the politicians are just bystanders in the spending and have no control over ads or the direction of the issues. This is all thanks to Citizens United funded by the Koch Brothers and the deep pockets of Wall St. It was not some left leaning front group or rich Dem. like Buffet that sued the US Government so they could spend unlimitedly and get the court to rule that money equals speach and Corporations are people. So, I put all of this mess on the Republican puppet masters and unlike in my past I will not vote for a Republican again until I know the puppet masters are removed or until Citizens United gets overturned. I would also like to know how Coporations are people? And where in the Constitution it says money equals speach? But, I don't have much money so I don't know if I can speak loud enough to get answers.

bebe53-I don't care who spends more then the other. The whole money thing is out of control. JSonline just ran a story about how the politicians are just bystanders in the spending and have no control over ads or the direction of the issues. One fact I know is right is this is all thanks to Citizens United and the deep pockets of Wall St. It was not some left leaning front group that sued the US Government so they could spend unlimitedly and get the court to rule that money equals speach and Corporations are people. Citizens United are the ones that started this mess with unlimited campaign money. It was their lawsuit funded by the Koch Brothers that overturned McCain-Feingold. The US Supreme Court ruled that money equals speach and that Corporations are people. They and the republican got what they wanted out of that lawsuit. That big corporations are people and them and their rich owner have all the money so they can speak for all of us with it. Us in the middle are losing our voice and government representation because we don't have the money to speak as loudly as them.

The true story here is that the US Supreme Court ruled that money is speach and Coporations are people. This is thanks to Citizens United back by the Koch Brothers. I guess the the whole all men are created equal thing is wrong. The more money you have the more you get to speak.

On In Wis. recalls, union is dirty word on both sides

bigchip....In 2010 the Supreme Court ruled that the government may not ban political spending by corporations in candidate elections. This overturned the 2002 law, usually called McCain-Feingold, that banned the broadcast, cable or satellite transmission of “electioneering communications” paid for by corporations or labor unions from their general funds. They ruled that Corporations are people too and money equels speach. This is all thanks to Citizens United that the Koch Brothers fund. Why do you thinks all of this money started coming in in the 2010 elections? Businesses with deep pockets wanted this and got it.

bigchip...As a citizen of the United States, I resent that corporations and business are aloud to funnel money to political campaigns without my knowledge before I make a purchase. I don't want to worry if I buy some bread, is the profit going to support some politician that I do not support. This is why I side with the Democrats. The Republican party may have once been honorable, it longer is. Now with the likes of the Koch Bros. and groups like Americans for Prosperity ruling the Republican Party it is evident the Republican could care less about the average American. Corporate greed and the Republican cult of personalities that have done their bidding, are what is truly destroying this country. I wish I would have come to my senses decades ago, so I would of not voted Republican so many times. You may of fooled me once Republican Party, but never again.
