On Projected rise in rail activity could mean more frequent, longer waits for drivers

Ive always wondered, though, why the railroad tends to have their most traffic during rush hour? It sounds like most of the posters here are older, and maybe dont have to get to work--because theres alot of people that seem to LIKE the trains..well, (even when I leave early!) its difficult to predict when or where they will be. And on the way home? Forget it, I take the extra long route home automatically, because I know at "rush hour"...there WILL be a train that meanders back and forth across the Five Points intersection. To me, thats ridiculous. That backs up traffic all ways.
And the "rule" mentioned in the article-about blocking for more than FIVE minutes. Are you KIDDING me??? I dont think ive sat throught a FIVE minute train in this town! Seriously.
Try the South Arch street crossing sometime.
But bring a book or a magazine. Because it can run upwards of 20-30 minutes. Ive called the police before, and that does nothing.
Whats really frustrating, is when I avoid the Five Points, go out of my way home, just to turn on Arch St, and there is the train again.
Sometimes it can take me 45 minutes to get from the east side of town to the west side--because of trains.
I know they are a necessity--but that doest stop me from despising them.

Now when i first saw the article headlines i assumed they were talking about Oakhill Cemetary here in Janesville. Why? Because the last three times ive been there...what a disgrace!! The long grass and weeds we had to to walk through blew in the breeze just like a big open field. With ALL the new rules imposed by the city which allow for VERY few decorations it is also bare and ugly. But hey! It makes it easy for the workers to mow the grass( im assuming they do that?)....and easing their workload IS more important than honoring our loved ones with personal pretty things.................right, City of Janesville?

Frogger--- how on earth did you get, from her post, that she was "lazy"???
she mentioned that parking, walking, getting the food and getting back to her car could result in cold food. (I agree). But...nowhere does she state that she doesnt want to walk that far...
In fact, nobody, including myself, has made any reference to having to walk any distance and being lazy about it.
More people seem to be complaining about his FOOD..
I think weve eaten there a couple times, so I cant really vouch for the food,
Hes targeting a different type of person. More power to him, but Im guessing the bar crowd at midnight will probably not be what hes thinking it will be.

Too bad!! I hope he reads this, although its too late. He wont make it down there---I know, I know, I will get all the bar people posting that Im wrong, that things make it down there..and thats true..SOME do..most dont. He will lose a big chunk of his business by moving there. And Frogger...when you "went after" K_atie... why? Shes right. First, he took menu items off that were a big hit..and secondly...the average person ISNT going to park in a parking garage..walk to the place and back. Not nowadays. Not someone in a hurry home, on a rainy or snowy night. A drive thru window is critical for a restaurant. Hes changing the crowd hes targeting. At the old location, it was families...downtown...its the bar crowd. Plain and simple. For his sake, I hope he makes it. But...I give it a year tops.

It IS awful. My sons were in Parker the year that it seemed like we had bomb threats EVERY day. There were so many, that everyone started to relax..and thats when something bad happens! But those kids were walking down to Franklin (the plan at that time) just about every day there for a while..and missing alot of school.

I visited the shelter a couple weeks ago. I was shocked to see about NINE cats. I used to work there, and I remembered the two glassed in rooms that were stacked 2 high and about 7 across filled with cats. As I was looking around in surprise, I noticed I was being followed by a very young woman, who "cautioned" me TWICE, to "not put fingers in the cages". Now...Im an adult..and I own several cats and dogs, been around animals my entire life. The first time she said it, I said ok. But..she continued to follow me..and said it again.
So...I asked her where all the cats went. She smiled and said they were ALLLLLLLL adopted out.
Come on.
Ive never, in all my years of being in and out of that place, Ive never seen it empty like that.
And suddenly, there is such a high demand for adult cats??
I know what happened. And it makes me sick. They "cleaned house". They can deny it all they want.
That night, there happened to be an article in the Gazette about the Humane Society. I couldnt believe it--they actually talked about the "overcrowding" problem!
And now, reading this article, which seems to just be Rhodes way of trying to justify why they DONT help animals any more, i feel sick.
So..when its snowing and blowing and bitter cold, and a dog is reported to be loose (for whatever reason..they do sometimes run away!!!) and is cold..and hungry..and scared, and in pain....I guess its NOT the Humane Society that helps??
Money, comes before helping the animals?
How can Angela Rhodes and her crew be ok with that? How can they ignore an animal that needs help??

I was in there about a month ago. They had NINE...yes NINE cats. I remembered the glassed-in sections that was filled with cages. I couldnt imagine what had happened to them--and asked. I was taken back by the rudeness of the staff--and by the fact that I was told that ALL those cats that I had seen the last time I was in, were adopted out. There is NO way that that could have happened. I used to work there!
They "cleaned house"!
I know thats what happened! Makes me sick.
Im sure that the Humane Society took in less animals in 2011!!Thats NOT what they do anymore. Legal "red tape" gets in the way. " The shelter in 2012 will continue to stand by those contracts and educate the community on the difference between shelter services and animal control services".... oh yea, that really helps the animal running loose and terrified in the middle of a winter storm, or in the middle of a busy intersection. Yes, at times like those, let the animal go, so that you can "educate".
Lets not hide anything here, the Humane Society of Rock Co is no longer about helping animals. Its about proving a point...its about MONEY. Wonder what they do with all the fundraiser money they make? It USED to be put directly towards the animals.
They only had 9 cats the day I was there. I went home that night, and there happened to be an article in the paper about the "overcrowding" problem. Yea. Not the Humane Society I saw.
