This board is completely dysfunctional and contentious. Their actions are unwarranted and they should be ashamed of what they have done. Their micromanaging is out of control. Any superintendent candidate should look at these actions and see the writing on the wall. This once well-led, well run district is going down the drain.
On Milton schools could face $1 million shortfall

Another "mis-step" by the Milton business manager. The board of ed needs to take a closer look at her work and why there is surplus every year and then a shortfall. She is obviously not doing a very good job.

There was a huge balance of money left in the budget this year and the so-called business manager, once again, did not do her job. The board of education needs to look more closely at her methods and ask questions. A new superintendent does not need to inherit her mistakes. I don't think the district has too many employees - but it definitely needs a better business manager - and soon.

I think Milton needs this new school, but putting out a referendum this year would be a grave mistake. The economy is tentative at best, and the GM plant closing will affect many families in the Milton district. People need to be sensitive to the GM issue - teachers and Board members alike.
On Schmidt is the man in Milton

Ego-centered, egocentric - same thing, folks. I simply don't care for his style of government. You have your opinions, and I have mine. Deal with it.

Schmidt does a better job outside of Milton than in it.

As a resident of the City of Milton, Todd Schmidt is NOT the man - in my opinion. Too many missteps under his so-called leadership - can you say ethanol? He has a very poor understanding of public relations and is a very ego-centered individual. He is, quite simply, building his resume here before he moves on. One thing is true, he has a very controlled dress code for himself but not his office staff. Please take the time to stop up in the city offices on "casual Friday" and see what a difference a day makes.
On Mercy CEO, partners honored at D.C. event

Where did Javon get the money to fly to DC and get yet another award he paid for? Mercy is laying off employees and cutting back services, yet the CEO feels is it okay to bask in the limelight. As to his letter to community leaders, does he remember how Beloit Hospital felt when Javon put up a cinic right in front of their hospital? Please....enough whining by Javon Bea. His letter also said that, "to date" Mercy has not built a hospital on their Deerfield drive site. Watch out folks...

I am thrilled that St. Mary's is finally coming to Janesville. Since Mr. Bea and his board took over Mercy and made it a cash cow for themselves, I have stayed at Dean or gone to Madison for hospital care. People deserve a choice in everything and this new hospital is long overdue.

On Goals common among school board candidates

In my opinion, none of the present Board incumbents should be re-elected. They have made a shambles of a once well-run district by micromanaging the district and its administrators into the ground. Add that to the shameless way they ousted a fine superintendent and things should be very clear to the voters. Pay attention, Janesville residents. Your school district had an excellent reputation and now - not so much.
