I don't believe he can't change... however, why does it have to be on my dime?
.
He had a chance to clean up, start over... make a new life, yet went right back to his past life.
.
As far as I'm concerned, put him away... It will still be on "my dime" but it will be one more drug dealing loser that will not meet my grandchildren in the future!!!
.
Lock him up forever!!!

(tongue-in-cheek) But "those" things don't happen in "Mayberry" Milton...
.
OK.... one of the reasons Rock County has such an issue with heroin and other issues involving truancy and theft, is the blindfolds on our local leaders. For cryin' out loud, this stuff didn't just all of a sudden fall from the sky and land on us.
.
We have big city issues being dealt with a small town mentality. Step it up. If our youth in school need to be monitored and "watched", don't send a hormone driven screw-up... send an officer of the law, in full uniform who reports daily to a supervisor. Treat it like a REAL job and force the county employee to be accountable.
.
Once again (and I sound like a broken record here...) it all comes back to accountability.
.
How are we supposed to hold children accountable when the adults SUPERVISING them are NOT???

OK... that's creepy! As a child (yes I'm old... I had an Aunt who had a dairy farm next door, and we would get fresh milk free to make ice cream...) never got sick. My aunt had chickens and would chase the chickens around the yard in the fall, hack off the heads on a stump... the bodies would flop around for a few minutes, then she'd pluck em. Best chicken I ever had!
It's called farm life. Not sure how this milk made people ill, other than improper handling... Farmers know how to handle their byproducts.

I have two differing opinions on the 4K program. That said, at 4 years old, it should be the parents' choice whether their child is involved or not.
The pros, from my point of view are that... at 4 years old, "most" kids who have been in daycare from birth, get pretty bored of just playing "duck, duck goose" and trying to entertain themselves... day after day with very few challenges. It has been proven that the mind of a child from birth to 5, will learn everything they need to know, to survive. Also, a small child's brain can be compared to a sponge... they learn and retain soooo much, sooo quickly.
The cons... not ALL children are in a daycare setting. If a family is fortunate enough to have a "stay-at-home" Mom, involved with the child daily, I see NO need to force this child to be warehoused with other kids, simply because it fits Wisconsin's objective. Parents have a voice, they have the RIGHT to successfully raise their child, the best way they see fit, within the limits of the law.
The advantages for a child already in the daycare system is mental stimulation when the benefits are most likely to enhance the child's growth experience and socialization.
Not all children are ready though. Even some in standard childcare, just do not grasp the "pigeon-holing" well. They need more time... they need more one-on-one interaction and just are too intimidated to be functional in a 4K setting.
I wish my best, to the Milton school district board. It is difficult to keep the budget under control, without losing our small-town feel. Hang in there... it will all work out for the best... as long as parents are re-assured that they have options.
Quick note... Any family that chooses to pick up and move... simply because their 4 year old can't be in a school setting, in this economy, is free to leave. Knock "yerself" out! If its THAT big of a deal, find a private school!

Well, I do...
.
He is headed for a dead end, at the rate he's going. At only 22 years old, "Nelson is accused of trying to stab his then-boyfriend". I honestly think he may not be able to get out of this.
.
I feel sorry for him on one hand, to have had such a screwed up childhood to fall into this mess. Then, I consider there are so many kids from backgrounds which suck... that actually make it.
Hopefully, he finds someone who can set him straight. That said, if not... lock his loser butt up. If he doesn't at least lose the anger, he doesn't DESERVE his freedom. MY opinion...
Its called accountability folks....

Ok... I'll play devil's advocate here.
.
If there is no evidence of her blood found anywhere that could link him to the crime, is he the prime suspect, simply because he is her husband?
.
The story says she had been "involved" with several men? Perhaps a ticked off "ex" or another slimeball like Edward Edwards, who murders people "just because"...
.
I'm certainly not defending him, and the evidence will probably convict him... just curious as to whether they had anything more substantial...

(interesting read...)

And...http://www.commerce.state.wi.us/newsletter/2007/april/MillerFienen.html
"After arriving in Madison on July 1, 2006, Chandra worked on Governor Jim Doyle's re-election campaign, while Mike completed his Ph.D. and started his postdoc at U.S. Geological Survey in Middleton. Chandra planned to take the Wisconsin bar and return to practicing law.
However, during the campaign she made the acquaintance of Aaron Olver and Jason Helgerson, two fellow Doyle campaign staffers who ended up on the Governor's transition team. They wondered if she had ever considered being an Executive Assistant (EA).
Well, no, she hadn't – nor did she really have any idea what an EA did. However, after she listened to Aaron's great sales pitch, she realized that the job paralleled her legal skills (helping with policy initiatives, responsibility to constituents, etc.) while offering new challenges and opportunities.
Since coming on board, she says that her main focus will be "to ensure that the work and goals of the department and the secretary is communicated accurately to the public, the Governor and the Legislature.
Chandra hopes to help alleviate the workload of new Deputy Secretary Aaron Olver, who has been juggling the deputy's job with his previous role as the EA."
So she "had intentions" of getting her WI license and return to law, but didn't? If it was an "oops" over the actual legalities... then this is one STUPID woman.
Or.... it was a "fluff" job to start... she's great "eye candy", then actually crossed some political line.
I love a good mystery!

Growing up, I had friends raised on farms. No one ever got sick from fresh dairy (that I knew of...) I remember watching the cleaning process of equipment, the sterilization and handling seemed safe, but then, I was only 10 years old. We churned butter because it was "old fashioned". We thought it was "cool". Better than that, it tasted fabulous!
I doubt this was something that happened due to error on the farms' part. More likely heat related...
