On Rockford man injures girlfriend, police officer

Posted on November 23 at 10:19 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

Again, my heart goes out to the women in our community that are suffering the results of domestic abuse and violence. There are at least 2-3 domestic abuse incidences in Janesville EVERY DAY ! (scanner)
The YWCA is here to help women that are hurt. There are meetings women can attend, there is shelter from the abuse and there is the hotline to call for advice. NO WOMEN NEEDS TO GO THRU THIS. If you know someone who is in this situation please urge them to call the hotline for resources,
You CAN make a DIFFERENCE. You May save someone's LIFE.

Paul Botsford was arrested in 2007 for DWI. Maybe he went on a binge.
This doesn't sound like sober behaviour to me.

On Swine flu claims life of Wisconsin woman

If you have an underlying condition your Dr. should have let you know by now..people with underlying conditions are still not getting the flu vaccine in Madison yet. I was told by the nurse that when the vaccine came in they were giving it to everyone. Now that there is a shortage the at-risk people will have to wait until more comes in.

On Briarmoon ticketed at foreclosure sale

I sure hope none of you people slamming Andreah Briarmoon ever lose your job or have a family member hit by a medical catastrophe. Either one could cause you to lose your home. And who would want their home to be sold for $17,000.00 ? That itself is an outrage considering the price of houses these days. Some greedy person will buy it up, fix it up and sell it for a huge profit.
And Ladystardust: sounds like you have a personal problem with Andreah. Unfortunately your post makes you sound bitter and petty. Since you personally know that she travels the world and owns a horse in Lake Geneva, how come you don't know what she does all day ?

On Report: 3 payday lending execs exceeded gift limit

Fine example of graft and greed. These people prey on the poor and the desperate. They flood people's mailboxes with offers too good to be true. I will make it my goal to find out who these lawmakers are and let my low opinion of them be known.

On Janesville vigil seeks to heal victims of violence

Posted on October 9 at 1:43 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I read and re-read the article about the Walk a Mile event. No where in the article was it stated that domestic violence is 100% male on female. In fact statistics that were given clearly said that 65% of domestic violence was male against women and 35% was female against male.
Truth1 would you mind telling us which organizations you are referring to when you state that these organizations(?) aren't telling the WHOLE truth about domestic violence? It's easy to make such a bold statement but what do you base your information on? There are organizations in Janesville that help men, women and children. They don't discriminate. Abuse is abuse no matter who the victims are.

On Janesville vigil seeks to heal victims of violence

Posted on October 8 at 9:23 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

As I have stated before, the YWCA knows that women, men and children are the victims of domestic violence and abuse. Men as well as women call the YWCA hotline and both are treated with respect and given resources for help. I don't think the YWCA has ever implied that DV is 100% male on female 100% of the time. Men and women are both capable of domestic violence. The sad thing is that a lot of victims chose not to speak out or are ashamed about the abuse. More men are talking about abuse these days, but don't blame an organization for failure of the victims to report the abuse. The YWCA does an enormous amount of good in this community and by holding these events they bring these issues to the forefront by encouraging victims to break the silence. More people are sharing their story and if you read the article about the Candle Light Vigil held last night you will see that a man read his poetry about his abuse as a child. If you are an in an abusive relationship whether you are male or female I encourage you to call the YWCA hotline. The number is 608-752-2583.

On Annual event raises awareness about domestic violence

need help: Have you called the YWCA? It has been suggested many times in the comments. The YWCA does not discriminate between men and women. We recognize that men are abused too. There are resources out there for men as well as women. The numbers for help have been listed many times . Please call one of the numbers and get the help you need so that your child does not have to live through this. Many times the cycle of abuse is repeated with the child either becoming the abuser or the abused when they grow up.

On Wis. National Guard battalion on alert

my3: I have 2 cousins who are as you call them weekend warriors. They both spent time in Iraq and put their lives on the line just like any other soldier that has been to war. I have friends who are in the National Guards who would take great offense with your comments. One friend has been to Afghanistan and Iraq. Did you serve your country?
