On Voters file challenge to Wis. photo ID law

Posted on October 21 at 6:36 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I question the competence of anyone who at this point doesn't have an ID, know how to get one, or know they can get one for free. If they are "disenfranchized" it is their own fault for not making the effort or keeping themselves informed (further calling into question their competence) as opposed to every person who is disenfranchized by a fraudulent voter...

On Test scores same at Wis. public, voucher schools

I'm curious to know where these voucher schools area located, how long they've been in exsistence, and how much it costs per student to educate them there compared tp MPS.

On Court recount proceeds locally with few changes

Posted on May 2 at 12:37 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

"...Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus said she had failed to report 14,000 votes..." Failed to report to who? The press? Now the taxpayers are on the hook for this silly state-wide recount. If Kloppenburg really cared about the citizens of this state, she would have at most just asked for a recount in Waukesha. This just proves she is bought and paid for by the public employee unions.
Gov. Walker, reimburse the counties for this waste of money and pay for it by laying off or furloughing state union employees.

On As Rock, Walworth counties begin recount, ‘It’s a sacrifice we make for democracy’

Gov. Walker needs to step up and do the right thing with this ridiculous recount. He should reimburse the counties for their expenses and lay off enough state union workers to pay for it.

On Wisconsin pension fund strong and solvent

Posted on March 3 at 12:41 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

There are 2 sources of funding for the state pension, the employer contribution and the employee contribution. Many (but by no means all) public unions have negotiated into their contracts that the employer (city, county, state, etc.) pay the employee portion as well. Also, not all local governments participate in the WRS as it is not required but a choice each local government has made. Gov Walker wants to force the employee to pay at least part of the employee portion. If that happens, so be it. As a public employee, I won't like it much but I'll just stop putting money in my IRA to make up the difference in my take-home pay. Gov Thompson tried to raid the fund years ago and got slapped by the courts and had to pay it back. It has been managed well over the years and there is no reason to change the system. There is talk about increasing the retirement age (what the age is depends on your employment classification) and that is fine with me too if it is necessary to keep the program solvent (won't it be fun to see all the 60 year old cops and firefighters out there and no younger people able to get those jobs?) They need to do the same with Social Security.

Rumor has it that Clarke refused to help out until the state agreed to reimburse his costs...

On State Senate votes to repeal racial-profiling law

Posted on February 24 at 10:28 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

What a waste of taxpayers money that law is. Hopefully the Assembly will repeal it quickly so the Gov can sign it. Why is it that our law enforcement officers always seem to be "guilty until proven innocent" by much of the public and media?

On Wisconsin lawmakers flee state to block anti-union bill

Posted on February 17 at 10:21 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I am a public sector employee who belongs to a public sector union. If my union and the state were at the bargaining table, and the state proposed the cuts/cost sharing that has been reported, and my union brought it up for a vote, I would vote to approve. I understand that times are difficult for everyone and am willing to make the sacrifice, even though I and my fellow public employees eaned those benefits at the expense of the wage increases the private sector was getting years ago when we bargained for these benefits. What I think is wrong is Gov. Walker going after my right to bargain for everything. I think it is only fair that everything be on the table, especially since I have no recourse other than to quit since I am not legally allowed to strike or take any other type of job action.

On Harley-Davidson turns down state tax credits

Let's end corporate income taxes all together. The consumer is the one who pays them anyway. Goods and services will be cheaper. Our businesses will be more competitive in the world market. Many jobs will come back from overseas. Then you'll see the economy take off and overall tax revenues increase.

Where was Keller chief of police? Or did you mean he was the manager of the Whitewater Lake boat patrol and lost that job when the Whitewater Town Board axed the entire department and contracted with the Sheriff's Office?
