for all those who think that Jefferson and Walworth counties do such a bang up job, why don't you pack up and move there. We can do without you.

On 20 tips to save money on energy

All those suggestions sound very nice, but I can tell you they don't always add up to savings. Last winter I kept my themostat at 629 yes, you read that right, 62) degrees. I put plastic on both the inside and the outside of my windows and closed all of the storm windows. I turned my water heater down to where the water was warm, never hot, and I still had $300.00 gas bills for each month of Nov, Dec, Jan and Feb. In march it went down to 250.00. In April I moved to a more efficient, better insulated apartment. Now my bills are in the 30.00 a month range, and my former electric bill was averaging 55.00 in summer.

On Construction to begin on St. Mary's Janesville

Posted on July 22 at 11:55 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I guess I am really, really fortunate. I have made it 56 years and never spent a night in a hospital until 2 months ago. I found the entire staff, from the ER, Admitting, Dr.s, Nurses and operating room to be professional, knowledgeable, compassionate and caring. I have nothing but praise for Mercy. I also have had relatives with Dean care, and found the same level of committment at both Riverview Clinc and St. Marys Hospital in Madson that I received at Mercy. I think there is enough room and need for both in Janesville. I have never had any experience with Beloit or Edgerton, but like any business, competion is good. If they treat their patients well and do a good job, they will survive.

It seems to me that there is a group of people who are only happy when they are miserable. The same people critisize and make negative comments about EVERY single article published. All I can say is it must really suck to be you. I for one am glad that Saint Mary's is building, I am glad that toner cartridges are being recycled, I am glad that SSI is bringing jobs to town, and I am glad that Kubota was purched by someone locally. You guys gonna complain when the new Walgreens and adjacent shopping center a open too?

On GM workers get transfers

-good luck and best wishes to all who take the transfer. I know it is hard to leave home and family, but we do what we must to earn a living. Jenna, Happiness comes from within, not from where you live. I never find myself bored or lacking something to do. This is a wonderful community with a lot to offer. If you are unhappy, maybe you should do some soul searching to figure out why. The people of Janesville are just like people everywhere. If you make the effort to be kind, polite, and considerate, we respond in kind, If you come on like gangbusters, rude, arrogant and mean spirited, then I guess you get what you give.

On Janesville's SSI set to acquire Hazen

Fianlly, a little good news. Janesville will survive. It will take many smaller businesses growing slowly but we will do it just as Beloit survived the closure of the Corporation a few years back. Let's all be positive and respectful of our community, those who work hard to make it a good place to live and raise families, and each other.

why do all the media outlets, when reporting a conviction, use the word pleaded? The past tense of plead is pled.
