On Yarn about psychic girlfriend named 2010’s top lie
Posted on December 29 at noon ( Suggest removal )
I don't get it? I read that in a "One Liner" joke book years ago - so is it part of the lie to claim that you came up with it as well? Why does the gazette even waste their time with stuff like this? Oh and I'm sure he came up with this shirt as well http://www.zazzle.com/i_almost_had_a_psy...

Does that mean they are going to change the tax code to allow for sales tax deductions? Otherwise that's really going to suck.
On Parkview schools issue notice about suspicious vehicle

Back when I went to Orfordville, a good 15 years go, the same thing happened to a friend and I while we walked to school. It continued over a period of days and also included seeing the vehicle outside our houses at night. We went to our teacher and then to the principal, neither of them seemed to act like it was an issue, just that they will "look" into it. About 2 days later it stopped and I'm not sure if it was a result of the school or the person's own doing. Anyway - it's just amazing how much differently people react to things today, in this case I definitely think it's for the better.
On Rock County sales tax collections falling

"Beginning April 1, 2007, the 0.5% county tax will
be in effect in Rock County." Okay so we went from 5 to 5.5%. The months prior to April were not reported on the Wisconsin Revenue website. So I think it's safe to assume that 4 months worth of sales tax would add a significant amount to the 6.78m being reported here. It's just deceptive in the sense that the gazette is comparing a partial year to a full year and not even the same months within it.

If I seem to recall correctly - that 2007 figure is also off by a few million. In 2007 Rock County adopted the .05 increase and therefor only reported a small portion of the years sale tax. So while it may seem we are actually up from 2007 - I believe we are down, possibly by A LOT. Now I could be wrong - but I will follow up with links to the Wisconsin Revenue site.

I'm not sure how serious this flooding threat is - but I'd also like to help fill bags. If anyone needs help - send me a message!

Bunelyn, maybe those people opted to donate to a charity that keeps their donation local? I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd rather have that "50 Cents" go to someone who needs it - then a group who has spent over a million dollars lobbying against gay and civil rights issues. I do that personally by donating my time and money directly to the shelters and LOCAL community groups in need.

Ouch! Maybe now they'll finally be forced to cut back on lobbying against political and religious bills.
On I-90 median barriers aren't perfect fix
Posted on December 3 at 4:11 p.m. ( Suggest removal )
While I'm elated to hear that this will hopefully prevent cars from crossing into oncoming traffic. I'm more curious to know how it'll effect the slides off that are so common to see after a snowy night. Calling for a tow after getting stuck in the median will seem cheap compared to bouncing off a barrier and causing who knows what kind of damage to your vehicle. Sounds like we might even get our first test tonight!
