deweeze - What exactly is a Fund 10 account and what is its purpose?
If it's a rainy day fund, I'm not sure I want to see almost half of it used all at once to balance this year's budget. That would be like Doyle using the tobacco money.

My problem with the Y is that even though they are a multi-million dollar operation, they still hit up the United Way for money every year and United Way doesn't have the spine to turn them down. So the Y is getting $7,000 they don't deserve while operations like HealthNet suffer. The Y should be ashamed of themselves. I was a long-time member but will never go back.

I think it's sad when an organization like HealthNet is losing United Way dollars, while a rich organization like the YMCA, which has a huge revenue stream and is sitting on millions, hits the United Way up for $7,000 for next year and the United Way lets them. Think how much that $7,000 would help HealthNet.

It seems like some of you are making judgements based on the price of one show - the big Tony Bennett fundraiser the first weekend. The fact is, many of the shows are in the $10-15 range (including the one today, which is $10) but the very first show the night before Tony Bennett was only $5 and totally sold out. So you folks really need to get your facts straight before blurting out that it's only for people with money.

I am amazed that people still can't tell the difference between humor/opinion columns and news articles. Of course, watching Fox News does pretty much blur the line....
MiltonRedmen - It appears to be a timing thing, based on the most recent responses. Just about every time I refresh the screen, the list changes. If it were based on the total number of responses, neither article would be on the list.

The teachers wanted to get rid of the QEO so bad, but they may be wishing they had it back now. 3.8% is better than nothing, which is what they may get in the current economy.
