On UPDATE: Janesville hunter died of suspected gunshot wound

Posted on November 23 at 11:51 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

My heart aches for his wife and children. This is my biggest fear when my husband walks out the door to hunt by himself. My thoughts are with you and your family.

On Janesville woman sentenced for role in crash

I think a year without her child will do her good. She could have went the rest of her life without seeing her. Maybe it will help her realize you don't put your kid in the car when you've been drinking!

I think his comment was completely justified. She had HER daughter in the car. She could have killed her own child let along other people. I couldn't imagine putting my child into a vehicle even after one drink. She needs some serious help.

On Does Janesville need a second hospital?

toohoes...if your not a GM employee & you really did need emergency care than I wasn't talking about you. I'm sorry if you took offense to my post.
.
I don't think people realize what really goes on in a hospital ED. I understand everyone thinks that their hurt trumps others. But say your in the ED waiting to be seen for your ache & an unresponsive person comes in. Do you still think that you deserve care before them? Patients like that (unresponsive) take more than one nurse & most of the time more than one doctor. Sometimes what takes so long is getting people into beds on the floors when they are admitted.
.
I've seen ALOT of complaints about the ED, but none about the floors themselves. When your talking bad about the ED it gives the rest of the hospital a bad name also. And honestly it's two different worlds. I believe I give my patients the best care I possibly can. I treat everyone of my patients as if they were my mother, father, grandma or grandpa. And I know my co-workers do also. I am caring. I am Mercy!

I think Janesville is just a spoiled GM town & everyone thinks they have the right to piss & moan about a good hopsital because they didn't get what they wanted right away. Mercy is a GOOD hospital. Maybe the ER is slow. But when you got people going in there for things that could wait till clinic hours then yes it is going to be slow. Wait till clinic hours for your litte sniffles and pains, earaches and sore throats. Honestly unless something is broken, bleeding or chest pain you really don't need the ED at 2 am. This town just thinks they deserve instant gratification because they worked at GM....guess what you're not anymore special than the next, get over yourselves!

On Swine flu takes a local life

The person who died might not have died from the H1N1. Although they had it, they also had other medical problems, so the person could have died from one of those. The paper is just letting you know that someone with H1N1 had passed away. Doesn't mean that was the cause of death.
You should treat everyone as they have it. Wash, wash, wash! Use antibacterial wipes on shopping carts, use your shirt sleeve to open a door, use the paper towel to open the bathroom door. Who cares if you throw the paper towel on the floor, every place of business should have a garbage can next to the door.
Just out of curiosity are there any health care workers getting the vaccine?

On Grafft believes in a future for Janesville's Monterey Hotel

Just outta curosity why are people trying to make Janesville into the next Madison or something? Janesville is supposed to be the nice sized town that you could still raise a family in & commute to Madison, Rockford, & Chicago. Why do we need to put in 'high-end' apartments? Why someone would pay over $700/mo for rent is beyond me!?! These APARTMENTS that are over $1000/mo are ridiculous! You could buy a house and the payment for TWO months could be cheaper than that. I guess I just hate it when 'big shot' people think they can do whatever they want & 'modernize' everything.

lierre04~I was thinking the same thing! If he has such concern about the 'unsafe' neighborhood & can afford to fix this place up for 3.5 million, then maybe he should buy out a couple of blocks down there & rent to different people. Honestly I don't think downtown is that bad. Alot of the problems come from the bars, but they are a couple blocks from all that. I honestly wish that they would make it into a hotel again. We have no hotels on the southside. There is the Northern Inn on 51 but a room with virbrating beds probably isn't a place my grandparents wanna sleep. HA!
~
Are they renovating the movie theater too? I think it would be neat to have a downtown movie theater & restraunt.
