The article says live musicians but never mentions anything but a dj. Way to get the facts! It was probably too hard of a "scoop" to get all the information. lol anyone willing to help the gazette with some information?
On Off-shore oil? Stick a bit in it!

Our government is no longer by the people for the people. The political parties are a cancer in our society. They promote themselves.(vote on their own compensation and benefits) They exclude true democracy.(try to legitimize a third party) They are "in bed" with oil companies and other lobbyists dooming our society at a cost to the rest of us. They are all selfish crooks perpetuating and spiraling the American society into a cold abyss. It is time for change and a revolution is inevitable in due time(probably not in my lifetime). I fear for my children as our government continues pushing us all under.

Under the pictures the captions say, "...Floodwater washed away three houses and threatened dams in Wisconsin as military crews joined desperate sandbagging operations to hold back Indiana streams surging toward record levels."
Indiana? and the streams down there are doing what?
hehe

On Police continue prostitution investigation

First off, calling a lap dance in a club prostitution sets the tone for the rest of the story. It is a trumped up charge using the same loopholes we all hate lawyers for. How many people in this town would agree that a lap dance is prostitution? I believe it to be very few. The general conception of prostitution brings a totally different scenerio to mind and those I have asked.
So after Williams and others treated the Halbachs unfairly, they did what most people wish they could do in theory, they want to get even.
Then the couple outright PAYS for the city's fireworks for several years. How did Forward Janesville or the business community respond to a lack of funding for fireworks? They didn't. Matter of fact, I overheard and took part in a conversation that included ". . .we are waiting for the Jaycees to lose the 4rth. Then we can start our own festival like Riverfest."
So now the city is on a witch hunt to get even with the couple.
I cant wait to tell my kids that there wont be fireworks, unless we go to another city to see them.
I dont go to those clubs. I have been in clubs just like theirs though. It fills a niche or they would not be open. Why not just let it go, give them the license so the club goes away and all the prudes will once again be happy and those who wish to frequent the not so local strip clubs, can.
On Janesville's GM plant to close

MOCO428,
I believe I posted earlier I feel a ton of empathy for the families who may have some tough times ahead. "What doesnt kill us, will make us stronger." I do hope that the children of the displaced workers see the value in realizing dreams, independence and aspirations for themselves.
I am not a teacher. I go to UW-Whitewater part time an education major. If/when I decide to teach, it would be a step down in pay, but the rewards will be unbounded. I own two business' in Janesville and have since the mid 90's. I grew up here, left and came back to raise my children. My grandfather told me when I was young(1960's) that unskilled labor has no guarantees, no REAL security, and more importantly no aspirations to improve one's self or the world around you.
I do believe the best decisions ever made were ones that were educated decisions. I believe that teaching can change the world ONE child at a time.
Moco, I am glad you supported the teachers. I believe every one should. FYI, my head is not buried anywhere, thanks. I appologize if my opinion offends. It doesnt change it, but I do appologize.

Welcome to evolution 101, where the strong survive and the weak . . . move. You can follow or you can lead or you can sit still, whine, and bitch about things you will never change.

mruglyhands,
Your last post was one of the few of yours that I agree with. The Fed Reserve needs to change and our political party system does too. Change needs to happen and it will eventually. Thats what happens.

On Janesville area among nation’s worst in job losses
Posted on July 31 at 9:38 a.m. ( Suggest removal )
I overheard someone suggesting that GM will wait out the union's demise, and then retool the plant for the future. This seems like a possible outcome. I personally think that if you were paid what the GM worker was paid, you should have banked enough to have options. You should have seen it coming. It is called living within your means. It is still my opinion that factory work means you accepted the fact that you have no job security. Unions have had a negative impact on the economy, and now their impact is being felt here with overpriced products and employees who were overpaid for factory work. It is what it is. I am not saying the employees didnt work hard, but rather they are overpaid for the category of work they decided to take on. I remember when the teacher contract was being debated here and many said, "you understand these negative things when you decide to become a teacher." I feel the same way about factory work. The jobs here in town will suffer for a while. But Janesville will survive. I wish the best for the families who will struggle. I wish the best for Janesville. I do not share the opinion of demise for Janesville, but rather change for a beautiful city and the base of people in it.
