I'm with all of you, I read it because I couldn't figure out the headline, maybe that was the reason... could it be...
Students STUDY the art of stained glass (art) in class
I still don't get the second use of the word art

Really COME ONE!!!
I've done glass art were you melt the glass in a torch. I've taken blacksmithing classes. There are people who weld and use cutting torches every day. Next thing you'll be saying is seniors should not be allowed to have candles, its completely safe, stop the nanny stating.
I'm just saying...I'd hate to live in your world because no one could eat steak because we'd only have butter knifes.
Let's just say THANK YOU for volunteering your time to expose our seniors to this great hobby, and leave it at that!!

Colleen Neumann is simply one of the finest teachers I know. I aspire to some day be as innovative and creative an instructor as her. She has shaped so many lives, and Craig will miss her terribly. I wish her the best!

I have never seen comments allowed on any criminal story, so IMHO the gazette is being consistent by not allowing comments on arrest story, this is a resignation story. For the recorn, I'm not perfect, so I won't judge the man because I was not there. Were any of you? Sigma? Taxandspend?
On Janesville School Board starts chewing on 2012-13 budget

What taxandspend does not understand is that education is now a competetive business with open enrollment. Cut all these programs, and students leave by the hundreds maybe even 1,000+ to Milton, Beloit-Turner, Edgerton etc.
Then our state aid is cut by even more and our budget is in worse shape. All the while people are complaining, the newspaper is reporting our resulting plummeting test scores.
Now what businesses want to move to Janesville with education in such a state? So unemployment continues to go up, taxes have to increase more as homes get foreclosed on etc.
Thank goodness taxandspends reality is not what is being done by our school board. BTW tax and spend find me one scientific study were school system quality is not listed in what businesses look for in were to open new factories or relocate and I will recant my post.

We have fostered 4 dogs for Friends of Noah. They are a wonderful supportive group. They provide training and offer "dog sitting" when you need to go out of town. They do their best to match dog with the foster parents comfort level.
They then do their best to make sure that the dog finds a great permenant home. We stopped fostering for a Rockford group because we always heard, "Don't you just want to keep them." FoN has always respected our limits and empowered us to work with the new owners.
Nancy at the Dog Zone daycare deserves huge applause for all her help, by providing free day care to the dogs. These dogs often come into foster care after living weeks or months basically in crates and the other dogs at the Dog Zone along with the staff "re-socialize" the foster dogs.
It is a great organization that like many in Rock Co. deserve your support if it is were your heart leads you.
"The more you give, the more you recieve." So give were your heart leads.

So by your post Hawaii a concealed carry state is safe. Alaska also has big suicide rates is that because of concealed carry. Your argument makes no sense, if any criminal can carry a gun why not a law abiding citizen
On Teacher convention canceled

Who...
Having worked on the JSD calendar committee, I can tell you that we are required to work 180 student contact days and 10 work days (3 of which are required federal holidays complain to the federal gov about Thanksgiving off).
****
The convention counted as a work day, and in no way did anyone in Janesville take it as a vacation day. As discussed earlier, you can take Earned Release Time (comp time) if you have earned it by donating time to the district previously.
****
I worked Thursday in the building learning and implementing new technology that will allow me to instantly evaluate what the 30 students in my room are grasphing in my Math classes. Then worked at home 4 hours on Friday (a break day) and two hours already today, a Sunday to incorporate the technology into next week's lessons.
*****
Now if you care, since there is no Packer game I am going to take a nap, and then grade some Geometry assignments durning the 3:30 football games.
*****
We are in the process of setting the 2012-13 and 2013-14 calendars first created by the teachers then submitted to the district. Most of those options do no have an October work day due to the canceling of the teachers convention.

As part of my NLU master's program we were required to keep track of how many hours we worked a week for two months. I averaged 56.2 hours per week not counting extra curricular activities. If we assume 40 weeks (4quarters at 10 weeks per quarter) we get...
56.2x40 = 2248 hours plus 10 work days at 8 hours per day with out students a year and we get a grand total of 2328 hours per year.
Is that part time? Well if the "average" American works 40hours/week for 50 weeks with 2 weeks vacation that is 40x50 or 2000 hours per year.
That means I'm working 328 hours more than the "average" worker.
The math sure shows that this teacher's job is not part time. BTW a quick bing search showed anywhere from 49 to 58 for the average hours per week for a teacher.
I'm not saying I work harder than ______. Everyone works hard, I'm just saying...
Robert "MY JOB ISN'T PART TIME!!!!" Now that you are educated please stop spreading false infromation.

On Majority of education unions vote to recertify
Posted on December 9 at 4:54 p.m. ( Suggest removal )
Wow, time to go back to school. In ANY public election the vote that gets 51% wins, in almost every union, club, organization, 51% wins. I agree its a little strangely worded, all it says is more than half the teachers in each union voted YES I want my right to organize! That means in 177 unions ATLEAST 51% said yes, it could have been up to 100%.
They are deciding to stay organized as a union with THEIR money to protect THEIR rights.
