Amazing...there are stacks of unserved search warrants that go untouched, but yet police are looking for a cat who scratched someone. Taxpayers money being spent in only the finest ways.

On Communities, groups struggle with how to deal humanely with animals

How much money does the humane society pay for the large billboards along the highways around the county? How much does it cost to run the full page ads in numerous print publications every week? And yet its too expensive to do business with our own resident taxpayers and municipalities. Something is definitely not right here???

The Humane Society needs a good housecleaning from top to bottom in its management. They should definitely change their name to something other than "Rock County Humane Society" because they don't represent anything about Rock County. Look to the fact that people are seeking surrounding counties for assistance in dealing with the poor animals who get caught in this system. Our pets deserve better than this. If you have ever had a pet dog gone for two days and have the heartache of dealing with upset children...put on top of that having to deal with the humane society. It doesn't make for a good experience!

On Wisconsin’s first organized wolf hunt begins

Posted on October 15 at 2:47 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

If there are 116 animals to be killed, the DNR knows that there is a "slush factor" for animals that will be wounded and not found (which will end up running off and die later). The same is true for deer hunting. Not all hunters are 100% accurate in their aim, and there will be many animals wounded which will never be accounted for. Then you get the trigger happy people that will shoot one, but then a bigger trophy runs up and they shoot that one too. Of course, by bragging rights rules the bigger one will be tagged, the other left in the brush. Don't be so naive as to believe that only 116 animals will be killed. Better wording...a total of 116 animals will be harvested and registered.

On Liberal group offers petition destruction reward

It is quite unfortunate that we have people across our state who are in need this holiday season. Families are struggling to provide for their children. People are existing day to day trying to pay their bills but yet give their family a good Thanksgiving and Christmas. And yet millions of dollars are being spent on recall efforts by both democrats and republicans. Even reward money can be given away like it's just "chump change." Imagine the people we could take care of this holiday season with all of that money!

On Homeowners say Wis. law favors big farms over them

Absolutely. I would invite you to talk to anyone from UW-Extension or any expert from USDA Animal Sciences Division or the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service. The federal government has very explicit and demanding regulations regarding "nutritionally inferior milk products." If a nutritionally inferior milk product were to be produced by anyone in the marketplace, they would be shut ultimately shut down. Trust me on this one...Larsons cows can't fart at midnight without someone from the DNR, USDA, State of Wisconsin, or DATCP knowing about it. And we could get into quite a lengthy discussion about this.

"We should make Larson sleep , eat, and drink at the people's house that are experiencing the problem. Maybe for a month or two."

Funny thing...that is a great idea, and a lot of us neighbors have asked the complainers if we could come to their homes and drink and taste their water, and take it to have it tested (by our expense, not theirs) and they have refused. And the Larson family all lives all the way around the farm, just for information sake. So, really, I don't place a lot of merit on all of the unfounded accusations.

It is quite unfortunate when people who don't understand agriculture are attempting to dictate to those of us who are active in ag. And if the people who move to the country don't like the country, then move back to town...it's as simple as that. Don't complain if you buy a house next to the railroad tracks either people! As for the Larson family, they are the best neighbors anyone could ever have! It's all of the outsiders who are coming in and causing trouble in our neighborhood. Look at the Town Board Chair's family...they have a shooting club and there is never any quiet on the weekends with constant gunshots...I would rather have a cow in the field next to my house than a shooting range. Now a shooting range gives me a headache with all the noise...definitely not Bessy the Cow. But then again, it's all in who you know in Magnolia. If it's good for the Town Board members, then it MUST be good for everyone else, right?

On Probe: Wis. clerk likely violated law in election

It is always easy to blame errors on the democrats or republicans when an individual makes a mistake. It could have been any one of us, making that 'error' but that is what makes us human. Not one of us is perfect. This whole country needs to get out of the partisan political mumbo jumbo and start being rational and have more common sense. Of course, there is no common sense in politics/government. Don't throw stones when you, yourself lives in a glass house. The glass will still break, whether you are a democrat or a republican, and even a tea-toter.
