On Disrespecting the president
Posted on February 7 at 9:57 a.m. ( Suggest removal )
I think it is time we all admit that the politicians from both parties show no respect for the office of the President. I am 60+ in age and was taught from a young age that there are certain things we show respect for....stand for the American flag, cover your heart when reciting our pledge of allegiance and no matter how we feel politically we show respect for the "office" of the president of the United States. Although I do not think Arizona's governor was respectful she was not nearly as disrespectful as most of the politicians that are running for office or campaigning for their candidates. When do you hear anyone say "Mr. Obama" or President Obama??? Anymore it is just Obama. It is time for parents to teach their kids respect of adults and decorum and it is time for the adults to show respect themselves.!!! Let's show the world we respect the Office of the president of the United States.

I am tired of listening to people fight with each other....what really needs to happen is for the government to take care of we Americans and not all the other countries. We need to quit sending money to so many countries instead of helping our own people. We need to make the congressmen treat themselves like they want to treat all of us. Make the illegals become legal or go home. Make people on welfare take random drug tests and if they don't pass they don't get the welfare. Start taking care of all of us and get rid of the government waste and perhaps we could quit fighting with each other. So sad!!

I do not understand the continual teacher bashing that goes on. I want to thank the teachers for what they do. I do not think people realize that our schools are going to suffer with all the teacher cuts and monetary cuts we are going to see in the Wisconsin schools. Who do you think is going to solve world problems down the road.....it isn't going to be under-educated people who sit around complaining all the time. The "green-eyed monster" gets in the way of common sense.
Just want the teachers to know there are people who appreciate them!!!

I just do not understand why every time there is an article on the schools or education it becomes a teacher bashing blog-site. Teachers deserve respect. All of the politics involved have made people angry and nasty. I have had 5 children graduate from high school and they all had caring, intelligent teachers. Don't blame teachers for our economic mess.

I just do not understand why people are not getting the full picture. We have so many problems in our country, state, counties....but without good education and educators they will never be solved!! Who do you think will find a cure for cancer, MS, and other illnesses? When people finally see what is headed down the road for education it might be too late. Quit playing politics and look at the whole picture. We need good schools and good teachers. I wish people would quit disrespecting teachers. I had 5 children graduate from Evansville schools and they all had competent, interested teachers who made them want to learn more. I think when people moan about "summers off" they are just jealous they didn't choose to educate. I would rather know and respect a teacher who puts in lots of hours in the day and worries about our children than someone who works 8 hours, goes home and never worries about anyone but himself.

I do not understand the negative remarks made towards teachers and education. Don't these negative people see what is down the line??? Our schools are going to get less quality teachers and much less learning equipment. We need smart, educated young adults to come out of our schools and solve the problems of society and our world. Please look at the larger picture and protect our schools and respect our educators.

I don't know why it seems to bother so many "non-believers" if "believers" pray for things. Just let us be to pray for others and even "you". Some day you might have something happen to you or someone you care about and you might want to try prayer because you think all else has failed. Then I say, go ahead and pray......all you need is to believe. You might think you don't but someday you might. I won't criticize you for not believing in prayer now because I believe that someday you will need it, use it and believe it. I respect your right to your opinion and wish you could respect ours.

On Republican tactics: Justifiable or not?

The Republicans seem to ignore the fact that there was no debate and there wasn't going to be debate on the bill. Why can't the republicans see that when the bill was pushed through passage last night it showed that Governor Walker wasn't thinking about how to save money since they could only vote on non-fiscal items. It was clearly a vote to take away collective bargaining. If the Democrats would have returned there would have been no debate....just a vote! This entire thing has been handled wrong. I had faith in the Governor when he was elected but will not trust republicans again. It was lying by omission!

On Disrespecting the president

I agree as to how difficult it is to respect the politicians or anyone who does not do their work BUT we want the world to respect us and know we are the most progressive country, etc. If our own people do not respect the office of the president why would any other foreign leaders? We can show that we disagree with our president or are disappointed in our leaders but still must show that we respect the office and pray for changes.
