On Wells Fargo will close 15 Wis. loan offices

SBM... Would you like to tell me how you and your husband losing your jobs would be wells fargo's fault. I am sorry but NO bank would refinance your house if you have no jobs. I know that is tough to hear but it is the truth. You should think about how WFF was able to repair your credit and put you in the better situation. Where would you be now if you hadn't done the loans in the first place?
Wells Fargo has what is called a tangible benefit for each loan that means we CANNOT do the loan if there is no benefit to you no matter how much you want the loan. We also have very strict credit guidelines that were put into place well before the government mandated it and thus is why Wells Fargo is #1.
You have to use your head when you think about why you are not getting a loan and not always blame the company. Take responsibility for your own actions and issues.
There are many great banks/credit unions in the area that I would recommend you take your business to if you are turned down for financing through another company. You never know what each companies credit policies are. Good luck!

I am one of those people who work for Wells Fargo and I can tell you that NEVER has Wells Fargo done bad lending. I have worked for other mortgage companies in the past and they did do bad loans but Wells Fargo, IMO, has NEVER done anything harmful to a customer. I have watched us help out thousands of customers and keep in them in their homes when many other lenders would do nothing for them. Wells Fargo has been a great company to work for and they made a decision that needed to be made.
Our division was no longer needed due to the acquisition of Wachovia and the larger servicing area Wells Fargo now provides.
I take deep offense to the comments listed here for people who do not know anything about the situation or how Wells Fargo does business.
For those of you who say "look at the # of foreclosures" I will tell you the reason you see so many of them with Wells Fargo is because they are the largest lender in the nation so obviously we would have a high number of foreclosures. Get a clue!

On Crackdown to target drunken drivers

Posted on August 19 at 1 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Most "drunk drivers," have not hurt anyone, they are just trying to get home

That is the stupidest statement EVER! How do YOU know you won't hurt anyone when you drive drunk or even under the influence?

I think that the 1st offence should be a felony like it is in California. If these people who take my life for granted "trying to get home" would lose more rights then maybe they would think twice.

The whole idea of a bar is stupid! They don't want people to drink and drive yet there is no program in place to see if someone drinking has a DD. They just serve them and let them out to risk my life.

I have had 2 friends die from alcohol related crashes and for that reason I DO NOT DRINK! People say it makes it easier for them to relax and have fun well just try it without alcohol and I bet you will have just as much fun.

It is about time our state cracks down on alcohol instead of smokers. I have never known anyone to kill an innocent person from having too many cigarrettes!

On Cruising the strip remains a popular activity

Posted on August 17 at 2:27 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

When I was in high school I cruised the strip and when my parents were in high school and we all turned out OK.
I remember it being a fun thing to do when you didn't have much for cash (gas was A LOT cheaper back then though). We never thought anything we were doing was dangerous but looking back on it now, I can't believe I survived!
If I was the gazette I hope they got releases from all of the parents of the children in this article because otherwise I think they may have opened themselves up to some liabilities...JMO
I still don't get how these kids are cruising anymore with the new probationary restriction on their licenses. Can anyone explain to me why they aren't getting pulled over for violating that???
If I was the parent of any of these kids I think I would be highly embarrassed. It is kind of a what you don't know won't hurt you attitude (at least that is how my parents seemed about it) and now they are seeing just how stupid their kids are acting!
I think the circuit is a good thing but I would like to see it back downtown.

On Does it make sense to buy a pooch from Petland?

Posted on August 13 at 11:41 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I have 3 dogs from Petland in Rockford and they are some of the best dogs I have owned my whole life.
I do not care where the dog came from particularly. I just wanted the breed I wanted and they were the closest place and easiest place for me to obtain the type of dog I wanted.
If the store has given the names of where his dogs come from then they have nothing to hide. You also cannot say that it is a puppy mill unless you have personally been there to see.
I also like how on the article a few days earlier we were told by the extremist group for animal rights that the reason they are a puppy mill is because if the conditions the dogs were forced into but now I see from neweyes that now it is just how many dogs they believe come from that location.
Sounds like a lot of uninformed people pointing fingers to me. JMO

On State Guard members at risk of identity theft

This sort of stuff happens all the time with the military. It isn't the first or last time my husband's information has been at risk. The problem is that the military still uses their socials for EVERYTHING! It is all over the place. This could just as easily happen if I dropped my wallet that has my miltary ID with both my husbands and my socials on it.
They handled the situation very well just like they always have by calling us and sending letters on what we can do and letting us know directly if the soldier was in the database on the stolen computer.
Mistakes happen....

On 'Cash for Clunkers,' model changeover leaving dealers without cars

I have a real problem with the engine being destroyed on the clunkers. It makes no sense to me. I agree with whoever said they should change the title to salvaged so that it can't be sold again.
There are lots of people out there happy with their clunkers and could use those parts that are now destroyed in the engine.

On People demonstrate against Petland, but store says it uses reputable breeders

3bblame- You make no sense to me. How is this article not about more than dogs? It is about your group protesting for animal rights. If your group only supports stopping puppy mills then change your groups name to People Against Puppy Mills!
If you refuse to acknowledge that all animals rights are important and not just the cute little fuzzy puppies then your group is a joke and no one should support you.

That is how Conrads (and notice the other two places refused a comment) and the others can sell over 5000 puppies a year

3bbame-Have you been to these 3 facilities personally? If you haven't then how do you know? Read the article...
"Heritage Puppies sets high standards for its facility, said Steve, the owner, who requested his last name not be used. The adult dogs have access to indoor and outdoor run areas. The buildings are temperature controlled, and dogs have access to automatic feeders dispensing food and water 24 hours a day."

I find it interesting that you animal rights activists have no problem with how animals are treated if they are not domesticated. The only reason dogs are "above" cows, pigs and sheep is because you put them there. Pigs have been used as service animals and many people own pot bellied pigs as pets.

Like I said before there are always bad businesses/people out there who aren't going to do things humanely but until you have actually gone to these facilities that you claim to be so evil how can you judge them?

If I were one of the facilities that was mentioned in this article I wouldn't have returned a phone call either. It is none of our business and they probably didn't want people making assumptions about their business practices and maybe they didn't want to be associated with an article focusing on puppy mills because maybe they aren't one...

I think it is only fair to give these places the benefit of the doubt because I bet none of us has ever personally been to any of them.

Purely ridiculous. How can any business take care of 528 animals?

I don't know but alot of places have at least that many if not more animals and they are able to care for them. If you own a business and that is what you do then I see no problem with it as long as the animals are treated OK. No one is going after farmers for having 500+ cattle, pigs, chickens, sheep, etc...

I refuse to look at the links that have been posted that are attached to PETA or other radical groups. I know that there are lots of bad people out there trying to make a buck but it is the radical groups like PETA, etc that lump everyone together and assume that every place is the same. Have you ever thought that maybe these places get their puppies from breeders and then act as a broker for the pet stores? Unless you visit these facilities that the owner mentioned please do not pass judgment. I could assume that your radical views on animal rights make you a complete scary wacko but since I do not know you I will not make that judgment.
