On Family sues school district over bullying

I also want to mention that I was bullied in high school by Chris Farley in Madison at Edgewood. He grew up to be rewarded and paid for his obnoxious behavior but in the end he ruined himself with drugs. Obviously even he couldn't stand himself. It makes one wonder what is being taught at home that makes these kids think it's okay to hurt others by teasing and taunting them. The education needs to start at home. Teach your children to treat others with respect and you will earn respect in return. You also have to wonder if the kid doing the bullying has any self esteem. It is up to the parents to help their kids learn to love themselves first so they will treat others the way they want to be treated.

My son was getting bullied at Marshall Middle School and when I had a meeting with the staff at the school, the officer onsite said that he didn't think the kid who pushed my kids face into the drinking fountain did it on purpose, it was probably an accident. I have no respect for that officer any longer as obviously he was part of the problem at the school if he was just going to ignore it. Thank God my son is no longer being bullied but it is situations like this that need to be addressed and not ignored.

Rocky's, Chili's and a Red Lobster like someone else said. They definitely need to put something where the old Del Taco was, Something where the Old Menards was and they need something on the south side by the Job Center. Perhaps where the old Feed store used to be? Even another Fazoli's or Taco Bell would be good by the Job Center. There just isn't enough on that side of Janesville. And somewhere else to eat on Racine Street would be good too! Janesville used to have a Rocky's, I don't know why they closed it.

As far as the other news addressed in this article:
I'm glad that moving the International
School is going to save the city money, however, how are these kids going to get back over to the high schools after their four hour classes at the International School to finish their school days? At least when the school was downtown it wasn't as far to get them transportated to their other high schools. I enrolled my child there the year before and that particular year they reduced their classes at the International School to only run for 3 hours. Then the parents had to rush to get the kids after 3 hours and rush them back to their regular schools. That was a lot of running to get them to their 4th hour classes on time, now they are going to be held out at UW Rock and it will take even longer. They should have just put it in one of the other high schools as that would make more sense for everyone involved.
I just hope this does not spell the end of the International School because it was definitely beneficial for the students to be able to attend it. I had heard a couple of years ago they weren't even sure they were going to be continuing it. Now they are going to make it less accessible? I'm wondering if that is the School District's way of trying to get rid of it, because enrollment may decrease now that it will be less accessible. That would be a real shame for these kids. I was planning on having my younger kid go there when he was of age, but now I don't know because it is going to be real pain to get him out to UW Rock in the mornings and then back to Craig in the afternoons. If they can make the whole school day at UW Rock it would be different but for now the International School only has classes til 4th hour or less if they lose a class like they did the year before. If they can go to 4th hour, at least I guess they can be transported during their lunch hours but how many parents can do that and kids can't take the city bus to get to their classes at the high schools and get to classes on time. I would just really hate to see their enrollment rates go down because of this move.
On Janesville Craig official in line to take over at Parker

I for one think Mr. Laue did a wonderful job at Craig. He is very understanding of the problems that students face at such a critical age. He has been very supportive in dealing with my child and I think Parker will be very happy to have him on their staff. I'm only sorry he will no longer be at Craig.

This is just a horrific crime. Believe me, I have seen what it is like to grow up with someone with such a short fuse and it is emotionally damaging. He probably treated his children the same way. That poor dog just very well may have saved one of the children's lives. I agree that this sentence is way too lenient. He should have to spend at least 5 years in jail for this crime. What a loser. Can't wait til he has to face his day of judgement.
On Janesville teen dance club wants to provide fun and safe choices

This is really similiar to an idea I have, however I wanted to make a safe place for high school kids to go after school, much like the Boys & Girls Club. I just wish I had the money to start a place like that. I have some great ideas and know a great place to set up shop. This could definitely cut down some of the gang activity in Janesville. I wish Mr. Evans luck on his new dance club. I used to go to a similiar place in Stoughton in the late 80's. It was fun. Hope this endeavor works out. I also would suggest getting rid of the Energy Drinks, that stuff is bad news.

Can we have a list of all the democrats that left to avoid having to vote so we can fire them? I'm just saying. If I walked off the job I would be fired.

I make around 32,000 which according to research statistics was the average income in the private sector in 2008 and I am a single parent with two children. One of which will be graduating this year and I will be losing child support....just in case you need to know that too. I am not bragging or complaining but I have a mortgage and bills just like everyone else and we live as cheaply as possible. I check out my movies from the library and don't have cable tv or even a big screen tv (only 1-26 inch tv) so we are very frugal. I own a used computer and drive an older car. I do most of my shopping at the dollar stores because I cannot afford the bigger stores. My yearly budget exceeds my income according to Consumer Credit Counseling guidelines so where am I going to find the extra money now that they will be taking more out?
I know that I'm making more than some people but you have to figure I am raising my kids all on my own. And twenty years ago I made what I am making now and I was working for the private sector. So not much has changed except for having more mouths (3) to feed for the same wages.
So everyone needs to quit assuming every State Worker has it made because some of us are still considered lower middle class.
But like I said, I'd gladly pay extra for my insurance and pension if it guarantees I still have a job.

Let's not forget about the parents who are the bullies in their cars in the parking lots at these schools. Show some respect for others. I see this all of the time. People cutting in front of others, or not letting someone else pull out after they drop their kid off. It seems to me the whole world needs to learn to get along and be considerate of others. That is the major problem - people are too self absorbed to care about anyone else. Show some kindness, and have some manners. Treat others the way you want to be treated in return.
