I can say from experience that it is sad that people only get help once the noose is tightened. No arrest and he wouldn't have sat at home that night and said, I better get help. Most people with addictions must hit bottom before they reach out.

There has been a notable increase in bus accidents during events such as these and also, this is an opportunity to check bus and driver in a more random fashion. Normal inspections on the buses takes place at there place of domicile on a reg. scheduled basis. The driver only gets checked if stopped for a violation.

I'm wondering, why, if JPD is looking for this car, why is it just now in the Gazette? I read this Sunday on WMTV's web site! Been curious ever since.

On Proposal would criminalize driving drunk

Posted on October 10 at 8:02 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

There is no "right" answer to this. A lot of armchair quarterbacks will say "get stricter with drunk drivers, but then when it happens they revolt. Honestly, I don't see where check points will help, but then again, in Florida I have seen how they can work. They inform the bar and restaurant owners of the checkpoints and in turn those people tell their customers who now have a choice to get a ride or risk it. Cabs are waiting and available for the smart ones. In our situation here, I don't see that it would work so well as there are many different routes to take between any given location and no reliable, alternative transportation choices. The only true way to fix this is with a change of attitude toward drinking.

Here we go again. People still want the gov't to tell them what they can do with their own property.

On Chicago eliminated, Rio to host Olympic games

Would have been a great economic boom to the area. Even if it might have bankrupted some cities, a lot of jobs could have been created and current business's would have reaped the rewards, at least for a while.
