On GM will shutter Janesville plant

PowerMaker To answer your question about your taxes. I just read in the gazettextra GM announced today that the janesville plant will be closing, and the next article I read said our property taxes were raised 3.8 % so you tell me if so many people are out of a job and and have to choose what to do with the money they have (feed their kids or pay taxes) what do you think they will choose??? And when taxes arent paid it will then affect those who have the ability to pay because they will go up again to make up for the rest.

On Halbachs go for liquor license again

And I would just like to know why is it that a liquor license could just be created? If that is the case why is it that outback is still waiting??? Just print the dang license and let them start construction!!!!!!!!!!
We have very few choices for going out for a nice dinner and a few drinks, so people go to bars and get drunk, so lets make it easier. Put a bar on every corner, close the plant, let everyone get drunk and depressed and turn janesville into harlem!!!!!!!!!!!
THANKS GLAD I DECIDED TO RAISE MY KIDS HERE!!!!

On GM will shutter Janesville plant

Please explain to me why is it that on the day of such horrible news to so many people (not just GM employees, GM has many suppliers that will be losing their jobs as well, not to mention the ripple effect that this will cause to unaffiliated companies that will have to down size)that so many would choose to bash each other blurt out unnecessary comments (go get a real job) instead of sticking together and supporting each other. Have a heart!!!! Has anyone stopped to think about how the suicide rate is going to increase when people are no longer able to feed their children, or even considered the children and how they will be affected?
Grow up, get mature, and remember "If you dont have anything nice to say.... KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!!!"
Stop adding oil to the fire.

On Who bears the greatest responsiblity for combatting gang activity in Janesville?

Posted on May 21 at 12:46 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

This is a tough one I believe that it should start with good parenting. I believe if a child feels loved and wanted they do not feel the need to look for gangs. However I Believe if we took on a zero tolerance it would lower the activity. I see on tv and in the paper these kids beating each other because they bump each other in the hallways at school and they are from differnt gangs. (OMG) Take these kids and lock them up show them that it is the parents that will stand by them not the gangs.
If their actions had consequences that actually stuck and they had to pay for them I think kids would smarten up and realize gangs are for those that never want to amount to anything.

The reason we needed another taco joint is very simple.
With todays gas prices the only thing we can afford is tacos LOL!!!!!!!!!

On 'The Wall' will live on at new Italian House

Glad to hear it! I just said to my husband that I was glad to see the Italian house moving to a bigger place but what a heart ache to see the wall being left behind. It was nice to read the walls and find friends names as we waited in line. Its nice to know that Edmund Halabi is a man with a REAL HEART and not just a heart for money!!!!

On Janesville GM buyout number over 450

Posted on May 21 at 11:19 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

To "justmythought"
Thank you!!!!!!!! I am going to be out of a job because of GM going to one shift. I have worked at Lear for 11 years and I have watched as my co workers are stressing over this, some of these workers that are loosing their jobs have been there for 15+ years. Unlike GM we are not being offered a buyout nor severance. Some of these people are 50+ years old. What are they to do now?
To ALL THE BASHERS!!! Please think before you speak. Some of these people have made due with what they had in life and were given the opportunity to work and be paid well for it. Dont bash them because you didnt get the same.
To all my fellow workers and friends.
Keep your head up high and hopefully things will turn around. I am going to miss working with all of you, We spent so much time together you are like my second family. Best wishes to you all.
Ignore the BASHERS with any luck misfortune will hit them too and then they will see what its like when the shoe is on the other foot.
