On Will the General Motors plant in Janesville remain open through the end of 2010?

I left Janesville a number of years ago. I'm really glad I left when I did. I couldn't seem to make a living. One company that I worked for in Janesville, moved away, after taking truck loads of money from the State of Wisconsin, promising to keep a certain number of jobs in Wisconsin. I believe that GM has made similiar pledges. Another company that I worked for decided to cease production operations in Rock County. It will be interesting to see what will become of Janesville's population in subsequent years, after GM is gone. What will Janesville become? A collection of fast food and discount stores where workers from these stores sell their services and goods to each other?

On Beloit company to lay off 109 workers

I was born and raised in Wisconsin. United Industries was the last company that I worked for before I left Wisconsin behind for good out of the frustration of being under employed and unemployed. After reading through the on-line Janesville Gazette stories about all of the plant lay offs that continue to occur in Southern Wisconsin, I'm really glad that I didn't continue to bang my head against that 'how can I support myself?' wall in Wisconsin. I still love the Packers & Badgers, brats, beer and cheese, but the State of Wisconsin is really looking like a hellhole to me now.
