Seriously, the thought that someone doesn't like this article just proves the degradation of the gene pool. This town needs a wake-up call, I applaud anyone (especially a woman) who realizes most men have been put out to pasture in the job market, in fatherhood rights, in the home and in the general populous, if you don't think you're in this category as a man, more than likely, you believe women, minorities and anyone having different beliefs than you are lesser beings - oh, and GM will come back and hire you. This country isn't supposed to work that way, which makes you the REAL problem, please, move to another country - we don't need you.
On Mercy Cancer Center plans move and expansion

I am an avid supporter of Mercy's Health System, they have been a very big part of my life for many reasons.
I find it disturbing however that constructive criticism of their expansions and growth have been simply removed from the Gazette's site.
This is a non-profit business, and I'm starting to wonder how that is if they can't even take the people's opinions of which they are supposed to be supporting - in fact, they seem to spend money in all the wrong places lately. Advertising an award that you petitioned to get?, for services that you are cutting & under-staffing with employees who have taken a cut in benefits? As well as renovating the signs, landscaping and "closed" buildings?
Shame on you Mercy for apparently "refusing to listen", and shame on you Gazette for letting them sway your presentation of information.
Concerned Readers: if you see this, copy and paste it and send it to your friends - it won't be here long.

Here's the dealio folks -
The reason there's an issue at all is because the DNR has been (we have proof now people) "playing" with levels and draw-downs for the last 15 years to the point of ruining the shoreline. It's not the dam's fault, it's the hands running the dam.
These "officials" have been taking moolah from the "interested parties" who need certain levels on the runoff properties for state-sponsored hunting benefits and tax breaks. That's it plain and simple.
If we have responsible people at the helm, then we are responsible in the preservation of the species involved here - including our own, which, by-the-way are 70% local, and only 30% out-of-state. (providing income and revenue to us - hellooo)
Get your facts straight, and stop wasting our tax money on "studies" which don't factor in our own corruption at the DNR.

It's October 9th, there's a hockey game in Janesville tonight.
In fact, it's not just a home game for the much anticipated hockey team that we all got fired up about 6 months ago - it's a game where we're going to honor one of this area's best public sports enthusiasts and writers.
I picked up a paper this morning so I could read about it. I couldn't. With the exception of two ads paid for by local businesses to tribute John, there's not a single word about tonight's game, not even in the standings/schedule page.
Disgusting.

John - although I knew before coming to your post this evening, I must reiterate how much you've given of yourself to those who've both been here in your posts, and in your life.
I live vicariously sometimes through my wife's eyes and experiences, and you'll soon come to realize why I am especially thankful for "the battlers".
You have inspired and educated, and only a few in a crowd realize how important it is to see these struggles and re-align their priorities in life.
So Thank You John, for your words and your story - they give everyone inspiration - EVERYONE.
And God Bless from myself, and my aforementioned wife Trish (yes, that Trish)

The fat lady sang in 1982 when the government gave them (the big 3) money to update US auto-making facilities... whoops - forgot to use it that way. A second fat lady sang last year - the sooner we all realize the end and start picking up the pieces FOR OURSELVES and stop hoping for the "easy" button - the better.
On Do you support government spending to expand high-speed Internet access in rural areas?
Posted on April 11 at 10:27 a.m. ( Suggest removal )
I agree that government should spend the money, but the internet providers should be enticed or even forced to pay it back in some way - the government spending means the providers get the money from the government to get it done, THEN collect from the rural customers as well - so yes, but make them pay it back. OR better yet, make them do it on their own dime, by taxing them according to their level of service (higher service = higher tax benefits), then they have to do it - and they have to make it profitable like everyone else - by working for it.

I think everyone misses the point about the dams, I fully realize the need for the flat lands water erosion control, what I don't understand is if the Fox system and the Mississippi system aren't flooded at this point in time, why is the Rock? - I would never want to hold more water up north - that's why we have a problem in the first place - what we actually need is communication (and reform) with the state (Both IL and WI) level DNR's and controlling factions - they could be more pro-active if they would actually work A: for the people, and B: with the NOAA officials to better monitor and control the levels THROUGHOUT the system. We pay for ALL of these services, and then we pay again when flooding happens.

Too bad we don't have a series of dams on the Rock system throughout Wisconsin and Illinois so we could better control the water levels.

All good points about moving on, if you're not ready, then continue to read these articles. If so, then skip them.
What I'd really be interested in reading in OUR local paper is WHAT we're doing to make it advantageous for GM to come back... haven't really seen anything like that of late, or ever - and what I do hear or read makes the Janesville "powers that be" seem unprepared to handle it. I'd be very happy to hear/read otherwise.
