On Should city prohibit bicycling on all sidewalks?

Posted on July 7 at 3:33 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Education of the laes is the key here. most dont know that it is not legal to ride on the sidewalk because its not taught to you most any where. By making a law saying its illegal to ride on the sidewalk you must also be very careful as to how its worded and then implemented. Do you reall ywant a 4 or 5 year old out on the street with their bikes. I say no. The saftey of all involved should be considered. Adults should have to be on the street but there are time me as a cycilst feel as if the sidewalk is the safest place. Usually on Milwaukee street with cars doing well over the posted speed limit. So imagine what the kids who ride to Marshal would feel like. They dont belong on that road but for most its the fastest way to school. Go ahead and bash those of us that ride all you want Just remeber it is the 1% that usually dont follow the rules in any segment of the poulation just like it is the 1% of you that get on here and attack others personally. So really no diffrence except just a diffrent time and place. In conclusion if the city were to make a law about riding on the sidewalk it must take saftey of all involved. Aloso there needs to be education of the law.

On Do you support city’s bike trail system?

You think they ruined the greenbelt with a ribbon of asphalt Well have you seen what the city has just done over the last year. If not go look theres no trees left in several areas. If you ask me it looks like crap. I agree some of it was non natve stuff but several large trees were taken along with the others

On Should bike trails allow dogs year-round?

Posted on May 18 at 3:39 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Seems as if the city is just following the same general laws set by the State here. Most State parks require dogs to either (A) not be allowed in some areas or (B) be on a leash when on state owened lands from May 15 to Sept 15. This is more due to the issue of birds and other animals seasons to nest and give birth and not allowing that to be disturbed durring this time period. But that is state lands and most of those it is a leash law not a no dogs allowed law for those months. I think it was the citys easy way out years ago for inside the parks. But the bike trail is a diffrent situation.

On Do you use self-service checkout counters?

Johnny if you really think of it at places like Woodmans or Pick nSave every self serve lane is like 2 jobs Your checker and your bagger. But I did notice when woodmans put theres in the took out 2 registers to add like 6 on the south side and took out another 2 on the north side to add 6 So there are more registers at the store and can you ever name a time that they are ever all open other than the day before Thanksgiving.

On Should state laws better protect bicyclists?

Posted on April 22 at 8:13 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

Its simple enuff there are cyclist as well as those in vehicles that break laws. On my bike or in my car I see just as many cars as I do bike "roll a stop sign when no cars are around. Yes some cyclist need to be better aware of following the laws of the road but at the same time so do motorist. But I guess there are never any accidents that happen that are say car v car either cause all motorist are always doing the right thing. It has nothing to do with the road or where the bikes are it is usually pretty plain and simple one person was doing the right thing while the other wasnt. I bet if any one with a motorcycle were to jump in this they would feel the same as many with a bicycle that they arn't seen and those in cars dont give them respect. But yet there are those on their motorcycles that cause accidents as well. It is up to each and evry person on the road to do the SAFE thing and obey they laws of the road.

On Does Cullen’s amendment make sense?

Posted on March 18 at 1:11 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

He is proposing this because he knows now that the Dems did it when that the Republicans will do it at some point in time when they are no longer in control and want to stop a budget bill. So you change it now so it looks like you are trying to get along but all along you make it better for your side in the future.

On "Over the hump day" TODAY for our State of WISCONSIN!

Posted on February 16 at 8:55 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

The funny thing is he pretty much made his view known on what he wanted to do. The New Gov. that is. Stated it his campain what he thought and the people voted for him so don't be so shocked he followed thru. As I see it Cb should be left alone but on the same hand CB can be the problim. We see every year teacher finally ratifing a contract 2 years after their old one expired. Partialy to blame is the CB. For to many years districs hand local governments have been asking for the empolyees to contribute and then the fight saying no. But noe that this is on the table all of a sudden its Ya we would have negotiated. Bull. As I state I am all for keepin Collective barganing but somewere a line has to be drawn. Walker goes to far but the unions have not gone far enuff in the on the other side to keep us from getting to this point. Both sides are wrong in this situation. But remeber people you voted for him maybe not this city but the people of this state did and he did tell us what he wanted to do.
