On UAW/GM EAP holiday food drive won't happen

Posted on November 21 at 5:45 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

Its been a while since I've felt moved to post in these blogs, but I feel that I need to now. The program in question was a truly wonderful out reach, Nancy and Marv, and countless others made this happen for many years. A co-worker once told Me that Her children learned more about the spirit of giving while participating than they could have anywhere else, they would ask Her, Mom when is the food drive? Many times I had heard that there were so many volunteers showing up, that they didnt have enough work to go around. I Myself have made the decision to keep My family rooted in Janesville, its the place I love, and the place I want My kids to grow up, its the true spirit of JANESVILLE that made these programs work, the PEOPLE of Janseville, it just so happens that many G.M. employees, and retirees I might add, were a part of it, along with many others from all walks of life, the negativity is just un needed, I still tell Myself that the negative individuals that keeping spreading the bad vibes just account for a small percentage of the population of the area, and with that thought in mind, I still think ahead of the day when I can call Janesville My full time home again, and wake up every morning to see My Wife and childrens faces everyday, not just weekends and holidays. So to those who would prefer no G.M related work or workers in the area, You'll probably get Your wish, but the spirit is still there, and one day in the not so distant future, I will be semi retired in Janesville, and maybe working next to You, what would You say then?

There are certain pranks that You expect from kids, but this is not one of them, this is just wrong any way You look at it. As Pete said, these kids will have this on their chests the rest of their lives, they just dont realize it right now. Theres one thing that is fairly certain, karma has a way of teaching Us lessons, disrespect for the dead is sure to bring about some kind of lesson.

I understand the concerns of residents in the area, but I really think there wouldnt be any major problems. Consider the fact that Janesville's infamous "circuit" is only hundreds of yards from the property in question, I highly doubt that this proposed business would generate more noise or problems in general then the cruising crowd. I also believe there is an adequate buffer surrounding the property to "absorb" any noise. Many cities have existed with "neighborhood" pubs for many years, with no major problems, Sheboygan for example has them, and they co exist without problems.

The Gazette needs to move on. I mean really, how long will G.M. news sell papers? The local economy will have to adjust, as will the Gazette to survive. Morning delivery, .75 news stand price tag, and not enough quality content to justify the price? It spells trouble to Me. Now would be the time for an investor to start up an alternative news source for the Janesville area, one with less obvious leanings. The business could be started at a level concurrent with the current market levels. I'm sure many southern Wisconsin People will welcome another option. As far as Chads comment...I here ya bro, G.M. has never been, and never will be a employee friendly corporation. Employees are numbers, nothing else, no room for that emotional crap! LOL. The fact is all former and current employees, union or management, know that the corporation would do anything to make a dime. The only People that prosper in this corporation are ceo's and other high positions. btw, lets all pray for Rick Wagoner, how will the poor man EVER live on His paltry $8.6 million retirement deal!

What really cracks Me up is people saying autowokers should make less to help the company, do You really think G.M. would have passed the savings onto the customer? Or bettering the corporation? I think not, it would wind up in the pockets of executives, and maybe stock holders, but hey, the stock holders invested for a reason, they should come before executives. All workers, from all fields should have fair pay rates, based on what the top People make, but they dont, because their employers have them duped into thinking that what they make is living the good life, dont be beaten down, talk to co-workers, ORGANIZE!

Seriously, does this really come as a suprise? With Our economy in the tank, spirits low, jobless rate high? People are desperate, and considering things they never would have thought of before, including, but not limited to crime and worse, suicide. God help the USA.
