On Are lawmakers debating trivial pursuits?

Well when I have a list of things to do, I always start with the easy things and work my way up to the harder things. Maybe that's what the lawmakers are doing... :P
On Why the flap over Evansville's pom uniforms?
Posted on January 21 at 12:37 p.m. ( Suggest removal )
This makes me laugh! All this fuss over nothing. I participated in cross country running in high school and college and the girls had to wear tight tanktops and "bundies" (basically swimsuit bottoms) instead of shorts. No one had a problem then!
On Conan versus Jay: Gen X versus Boomers?
Posted on January 21 at 12:28 p.m. ( Suggest removal )
Conan is definitely funnier. Jay Leno is boring. The only thing that makes me stop on his show is if he's doing the headlines bit. Conan makes me laugh out loud! It would have been nice if Conan could have had more time to prove himself. I didn't like Leno before, but now I kind of despise him.

1. Don't shop on campus...prices are outrageous!
2. Use your meal plans/points instead of ordering pizza & going to McDonalds.
3. Take your laundry home on the weekends and do it for free.
4. Get a real job...from what I remember work study didn't pay much!
On Did city make right move on sidewalk shoveling?
Posted on January 14 at 2:30 p.m. ( Suggest removal )
You shovel your driveway. Take the extra 10 minutes to shovel the sidewalk. We live in Wisconsin, so it shouldn't be a surprise that you'll have to shovel. If you know someone is disabled or elderly, offer a helping hand. We could all use a little more exercise, especially in the winter!
On Do schools need to focus on “character education?”

While I agree on giving children every opportunity to become successful members of society, isn't this the parent's job? In any event, the child will need parents to reinforce behaviors that they are learning in these programs, otherwise it's all for nothing.

This may be a dumb question, but how does composting work in the winter?
On Janesville snow emergency starts Thursday night
Posted on January 7 at 12:56 p.m. ( Suggest removal )
Napalm "snow emergency" is common verbage used all over the US to notify residents to get their cars off the streets so that the city can plow. It's also an indicator that schools and businesses may shut down early.
You make it seem like Janesville is the first city to use the term. Relax!

When I first met my husband in college he was addicted to Days of our Lives. I mean what else is there to watch in the afternoon between classes! I thought he was weird, but I got hooked too (and was for many years after). I tried to get back into it recently, but with characters dying, divorcing, having children, coming back from the dead...I couldn't muster enough patience to figure it all out again!

My daughter is 2 now and we try to limit her TV consumption to 1 hour per day. Over the past year, it has really cut down on the entire family's TV watching. Last September, we got rid of our satellite dish and only have internet through Charter. We have our PS3 hooked up to it and and subscribe to HULU ($8 per month). We can watch a lot of network shows right through that after my daughter goes to bed at night. We also have Netflix and can stream movies and shows through that, as well as get the latest movies without paying crazy prices! I never thought we could do it, but I really can't imagine spending $75 or more just on TV a month...what a waste!
Also, we do have our home phone through Magic Jack. It goes right through our computer and it's super cheap. I beleive it's $20 per year and I don't really care that my number starts with a 554 prefix!
I encourage everyone to take a leap and not let that box in your living room rule your life!
