On Is our state budget balanced, or not?

...With the attention focused on him, Walker won't be able to wheel, deal or steal the way Doyle did....

This comment actually made me chuckle. Really janesvillecomments? How did you type that with a straight face? Walker is a wheeler, dealer and stealer who doesn't care about the citizens of Wisconsin. I don't know how anyone can think that he's a fair, upstanding guy.

On 46 bridges in Rock, Walworth counties called 'structurally deficient'

I think they are going to redo the Henry Ave. bridge in Beloit very soon. After Riverfest maybe? Or this fall?

On Tornado tosses Merrill man 200 feet

Maybe the siren did sound like a train to this guy. No one on here slamming this guy knows his situation or anything about him!

As far as looking outside and seeing the weather was bad..ummm...if he went to bed, I think maybe it was dark outside? Yes, he could tell it was storming, I suppose, but I for one don't stay up at night just because of some thunder and lightening. I would check the weather on TV though. Still! Grandprixgirl, you are just not being very compassionate! Why?

Anyway, I'm glad this man is going to be okay. Not many people survive a situation like he did. And yes...weather.radio. Totally!!

On Reactions to Wisconsin Senate vote on union rights

tj57 asked - How are the savings going to be seen if we don't pass the increased contributions for health care and retirement?

They said on the news that this was passed with the end of collective bargaining.

Scott Walker is ruining our state and to those of you 'supporting' him and his bill - let's see how you feel when his attention turns to the rest of the citizens of Wisconsin once he's done with public employees.

We are all screwed.

On Dog rescued from ice on Rock River

Thank you Janesville Firefighters! Whether or not the owner should have let the dog off leash doesn't matter to me. I'm so glad you are compassionate enough to rescue a helpless dog in his time of need.

On Public workers could pay thousands toward benefits under Walker plan

Posted on February 21 at 8:14 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

john62, public employees do not get an employer match to the money they put into a deferred comp plan. They contribute 100%. They also contribute to their health insurance premiums costs, don't get bonuses, and many have gone without raises the last couple of years - while doing the work of 2 or 3 employees because employees who retire or resign aren't replaced to save money.

And not all public employees are covered by a contract and they will see a significant decrease in their incomes if Walker's bill passes.

I would LOVE to see state, county and city governments close down for a month, and maybe everyone would appreciate the hard work our public employees do a little bit more. You have no idea...

On I'm a lucky mom

Posted on February 9 at 8:18 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I was lucky to have not only my mother's "help", but also MY grandmother's, when my daughter was young. I have two grandchildren and wish I could do more. They live close by, but I still work full-time. I am willing to help anytime I'm asked. LOVE my grandbabies! Yes, it is my daughter and son-in-law's responsibility to raise their kids, but I am here to help out, when they want/need me to. I had the best grandparents anyone could ask for. They gave me a wonderful example of what good grandparenting looks like.
