On Do you expect a debt crisis resolution to be reached by the Aug. 2 deadline?

coast2coast:
OF COURSE that is the best way to measure a coach, because the betting line takes into account what PLAYERS the coach has. As I said, any coach is only as good as the talent he-she is given..
.
You know darn well, that any idiot off the street could have taken the original dream team to win gold, with the hall of fame players that team had! A good coach is one who is able to motivate and game plan and WIN, even if they may have inferior talent. When talent is very close, a GOOD coach will find a way to win. So yeah, the best coaches are the ones who have the best records vs the betting line. And you are right on...It was Stan Parrish of ball St, who I bet against OVER AND OVER. Far and away the worse coach in America (in a D1 program). A coach you simply bet against EVERY GAME (doing no other analysis what so ever) and win about 80% of the time! Of course my top play last season (that I posted in a different blog site, that you know) was winless Akron +13.5 over Ball St. A game that went to OT, and Akron lost, but covered the betting line....Off the topic, but you had to get me started!!

My dream was to play in the NBA when I was little. I wanted to be the next Joe Dumars (my idol growing up). I chased my dream for a while..Played in many semi pro leagues, but never quite made the final cut of a NBA roster. Never regret chasing that dream. Have a good life now owning my own trucking business, but still often think about that dream of playing in the NBA.

kiowa talking my boyz-da Lions!
Knowing kiowa (old friend) he'd go on to tell you the true measure of a coach is their record against the spread, LOL! Who was the guy you use to always claim was the worse coach ever? The guy from Ball St who had some God awful ATS record? You had some of the best coaching angles for betting sports!
Maraneli really is a good coach. I'm a huge Detroit sports fan (growing up from there). Your post is WRONG kiowa...he's now the defensive coordinator for da Bears! He started off as the line coach..I'll forgive you though, since you knew his history back to Ari St, but you forgot to also mention USC!
Guess the real question is do you think Obama has done much to turn things around? Most are not seeing this vast improvement that I talk to. If he truly took over a 0-16 economy, most would tell you we are still 0-16.

On A good day for watching Wisconsin sports

I don't see the Brewers making the playoffs, unless they make some moves before the trade deadline. They will have to win the division to make it; as the wild card will almost surely be Atlanta (behind the clear favorite of the NL; philly). Brewers have to many holes. The middle relief is extremely weak. Loe, Braddick, Estrada have been getting shelled. The starters are very suspect to. Greinke has really not showed much of anything for all the hype he got. He gets lit up against power hitting teams (did not even make 3 innings vs NY and Boston, giving up like 8 runs). Gallardo is solid, but Narrvasson, Wolfe and Marcum are all just average. Other teams in the division have just as good if not better 3-4-5 starters. Probably their biggest flaw is the infield; SS and 3rd base. These guys are hitting low average with no power, and are only average on defense.
I just don't see it. They rely to much on a few key guys, and don't look to have the depth that the teams they are up against (Cincy, STL, Pittsburgh) have.

On Are WE THE PEOPLE of WI really going to send MILLIONS MORE FEDERAL $$$ back for OTHER states?

Posted on July 6 at 2:02 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I say turn it down as a matter of principal.
No $$$ is ever "free". I have not read all the stories, but you can pretty much guarantee federal $$ will have major strings attached, and simply give the federal governmnet even greater control over you then they all ready have. All this "stimulus" has been a miserable failure. For the TRILLIONS of $$$'s the fed has borrowed and printed, what do we have to show now? Unemployment has stayed higher then ever, and the debt is now near a tipping point, that will cripple any possible economic growth for generations to come.

On “Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it”

The big problem is that everyone interrupts history different. It's often said that the WINNERS (of war and conflict) are the ones who write the history. And that history is often very much distorted, and open to much interpretation, and countless flaws by the authors. Any event that happens, you can dig up some era of history, and CLAIM that it's happening all over again. Most of the time if you actually read ALL the details of that era in history, you will find that the actual situations were FAR different. Like comparing the recession of today to the great Depression is ABSURD. The two eras are so different, that it's comparing apples and oranges.

Just the Author of this article distorts history himself in this blog. Somehow thinking the depression was the result of policy of the Republicans of that era. The far greater cause of it was Wilson getting us into WWI. The dumbest war the US has ever entered into (well, debatable with the war of 1812). We did not even know what side to back when the thing broke out, and only took a side because a passenger ship with US citizens was accidentally sunk by the German U-boats, and we got a hold of a bogus letter that was supposedly sent by the Germans to Mexico (likely was actually sent by the allies to get us to back their side). That war literally set the seeds to break our economy in years to come. We were no super power back then, and it put us so far in debt to finance the thing that a massive depression loomed on the horizon. Much like the massive debt we take on now will result in economic catastrophe down the road. When it happens 10-20 years down the road; however, people will say it was the result of CURRENT things, and current administrations, when in fact the seeds were planted LONG AGO.

On Do you have hopes for county’s economic future?

The "trickle up" has not exactly worked either. Well over a trillion has been thrown at this economy in governmnet "stimulus". Both the Rep (Bush) and the Democrat (Obama) were all about bailouts and massive stimulus all on debt. Anyone who thinks there is really much difference between either party is on drugs. Both are horribly out of control, and leading the country to economic shambles. If you think this thing just bounces back like it did in the or 80's or 90's you really are living in a dream world. As the baby boomers retire, the obligations in SS, Medicare, ext; are going to be a massive drain on an all ready bankrupt system that is drowning in debt. Our military is so over extended across every corner of the globe being the world police man (a colossal $$$ drain), social spending will never be cut without creating political suicide. Taxes won't be raised without political suicide.. This is so far beyond screwed it's ridiculous. I really don't see how anyone can have much optimism at all, or faith in either party to solve anything.

It's good to see a few places starting to hire, but the reality is millions are out of work, and unemployment will remain high even by the FED's own estimates (which are normally way over optimistic) for years. Growth is very slow for how many trillions of borrowed $$ in stimulus that have been pumped into the economy. I don't see much to be optimistic about. We have an economy that will be stagnant and slow growing, by even optimistic estimates, and debt that is exploding by the minute.

On Is the NBA draft on your radar screen?

Posted on June 25 at 2:12 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

Yeah, it will be fun to see how a few of these guys progress.

Lot of great players from small schools this draft, that really were over looked. Norris Cole from Cleveland St was another. The Bulls really scouted well, and had a great draft getting Cole, and Butler to take some pressure off Rose (who was WAY over worked this past season).

I have had a great track record on these "steals" in past drafts. Couple years ago i loved Stephan Curry. He was taken #7 over all by Golden St, and was rookie of the year. He was out of Davidson (who lit up the Badgers that yr when Curry scored like 50 against them). Few years prior to that my steal was George hill from IUPUI (who went about 20 or so over all). A guy who has had very good success, and now a starter with the Spurs. Few years prior to that my big steal was Paul Millsap. Who was taken in the 2nd round by the Jazz, out of LA Tech. He has been a total work horse; rebounder and scorer for the jazz.

The best finds in the draft are the ones from the small schools who often go under the radar. Lot of kids from the inter cities don't always get off to life on the right foot. Have a lot of normal teen problems...They get themselves straightened out, get recruited by a smaller school, work real hard, and become NBA caliber players.

Really watch Fairley, Gaoudlock, and Cole next season. Three guys who were DOMINANT smaller college players.
