For those of you that think that going to the Dean Hospital is going to be your health care savior, I am sorry to say that you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Wait times in the ER are everywhere; they are not just a Mercy problem. I have had poor experiences at Mercy, but nothing tops the horrible experience I had at a Madison emergency room. I think overall Mercy is a great health system. Mercy is like every other business; it has strong and weak points.
For those of you that honestly believe using CCAP to identify doctors that have committed malpractice, you are just demonstrating ignorance. Most malpractice cases never make it to court. They are settled quickly outside of a courtroom. Your personal doctor could have committed malpractice and paid out dozens of malpractice claims, and you would never know about it. That information is secured from the public in a national data bank.
Mr. Bea’s total compensation is based on how well the health system does. Most businesses and organizations pay their CEO on how well the company performs. This is nothing new. As for the number of VPs at Mercy, who really cares as long as the organization is stable? And from what I understand Mercy is still financially sound, they are trying to be proactive and keep it that way. Would you rather they wait until they are operating in the red and have to shut the doors or cut half the positions?

12-21-12 is the end of the Mayan calendar. Some believe that end of the Mayan calander means that the world will end.
There are many experts on the Mayans that do not believe that the end of the Mayan calendar signifies the end of the world. You can google the Mayan calendar or the date to find out more information.

I frequent area coffee shops several times a week. Whenever I visit cities outside of Janesville, I try to stop by and try the local coffee shops.
Although I don't get to Mocha Moment as much as I would like to, I have to say that it's overall the best coffee shop I have ever been to. The coffee is good, but it's not what makes Mocha Moment exceptional. What makes Mocha Moment exceptional is the commitment that Steve and Kathy and the rest of the staff have to the community. Every month a donation is made to Habitat for Humanity. When you see Mocha Moment open on a Sunday, they are having a fundraiser. The staff is donating their time and tips to an individual or family in need. On the Mocha Moment website it states that their latest fundraiser raised over $2700 for Derrick Mattingly's family, and in the 5 years Mocha Moment has been in business they have raised over $36,000 in donations for various individuals and families. How many businesses do this?
Also Mocha Moment is much less expensive than Starbucks and any other coffee shop in the area.

I can understand how someone can feel that a person should deserve a life sentence for taking a life. I believe that we don’t penalize those that commit crimes as much as we should.
Snarly, If you want to get into it,tell me why should someone that has gotten 6 or 7 DUIs be prosecuted the same or to any less extent than someone that kills someone on their 1st drunk driving offense? The person that repeatedly commits DUI could be said to be more dangerous than a 1st time drunk driver that causes an accident.
I don’t know the solution for the problem. I am just sick of repeatedly reading these stories. We all have these emotional reactions to the stories, but when is it going to be time stop being so reactive and start doing something proactive to prevent these things from happening. If a 1st DUI meant an automatic year in jail and mandated treatment I am sure it would deter some people from drinking and driving. Maybe after the 1st DUI, the punishment could triple. For the ones that aren’t deterred, obviously they have issues to begin with and they shouldn’t be on the streets anyways.

I am a family member of Danny's. Danny is a very respectful kid. He is remorseful and yes like everyone is saying, he knew he deserved to go to jail. His family also realizes the severity of his actions and also realizes that he needs to be in jail for what he did.
I won't say that this was predictible, but his group of friends weren't the kind of kids you would find sitting at the library studying on a Friday night. They were not the type of kids that would vandalize, steal, or get into fights. They obviously did drink and smoke pot. Yes, his family did try to intervine, but with Danny living his Chicago, his family here had little control or influence in his day to day choices.
Danny made a huge mistake that night. He had family here that he should have know that he could call for a ride.
I would like to add that these kids were partying at a local hotel the night this happened. They were all drunk and noisy. The hotel kicked them out, instead of calling the police. I am not trying to pass blame, but I think that is quite inappropriate for a hotel to kick out kids for underage drinking and not call the police.

Janesville Hero -If you are so smart, why do you spend so much time on here criticizing everyone else? It seems like an intelligent person would be able to find a more productive way to spend their time. Also, intelligent people would be able to back up their beliefs with some sort of logic or facts. Have you said anything that is logical or factual?
I don’t believe for one second that you are a leader or have above average intelligence. You have not demonstrated any leadership skills nor have you demonstrated that you are an intelligent person in any of your postings. Actually, you talk in circles, which makes you sound like an idiot.
One last thing, if you are so sure of yourself, why do you feel the need to defend yourself every time someone replies back to you? Isn’t that a little below someone with such power and knowledge?

Jackson, intelligent people debate and present ideas with facts, not with feeble opinions. Please explain to everyone how GM has given Janesville a bad image? After you explain that, can you please provide a reliable source for the information?

Jackson-Does it make you feel better to rag on GM workers? Your opinion is not a valuable as you may think it is. The reason why you get a response is because your blatant ignorance makes you an easy target. It must be a sad little life you live, if you get such a thrill of other people misfortunes. Also, it's amusing how in every blog, you express your excitement over the idea of garage sales. Have fun Jackson, scavenging the streets of Janesville like a rat, finding your second hand treasures. Thanks for being the epitome of white trash. Have a 'brite' and 'shiney' day Jackson.

If you want to compare how local hospitals compare in quality, check the Joint Commission site. Mercy meets or exceeds Joint Commission standards as do most other hospitals in the area. Joint Commission is a not-for-profit organization that accredits more than 90% of the hospitals in America. http://www.qualitycheck.org/Consumer/Sea...
