On Rock County has 60 percent census return rate

Maybe they would have a higher return rate if they actually got mailed out to everyone - I never got a census form!

On Janesville vets bringing health care home

mjbike2 - I use Prarie Animal Hospital - it's right by Shopko on Prarie in Beloit. They were fantastic with my cat and really helpful and answered all my questions. I would recommend them!

On Cleaning up, crash after crash

I was just at that intersection last night and was wondering why there were 5 stop signs for an intersection. People need to just pay attention - the intersection is not hard to see! Post an officer there, that will get people to pay attention when everyone that goes through there starts to get cited when they don't obey traffic signs.

On Crackdown to target drunken drivers

Maybe if WI (Janesville in particular) had available cabs, people would not feel like they have to drive to get home after drinking. I moved here about 8 mos. ago from a town in MN the size of Janesville where every 4th or 5th car on the road was a taxi - when you left the bar there were like 5 or 6 taxis just lined up waiting to take people home. Getting a taxi company here would reduce drunk driving as well as create jobs.

On Trial scheduled in Janesville homicide case

When going to trial for a felony case you have the right to a speedy trial, but you are also able to not excercise that right, giving more time to get your side of the case together and building a good defense. The defendent in these cases may have requested more time - and it does pertain to the first hearing in which could be a long string of hearings.

On Home sales dip

I bet that more people would be buying homes if financing were easier to get. My husband and I have been to multiple banks and keep getting denied for a number of reasons, but basically keep getting told that our debt to income ratio is too high, and all the debt we have is a car payment and minimal student loan payments! No credit card debt at all and almost $10k in savings!
We both have decent, steady jobs, and no bad work history.

I don't understand how anyone is able to get financing right now with how stingy banks are being with their money!

On Officials: Meth not spreading here despite recent cases

Posted on March 24 at 12:27 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Meth is NOT a big problem here. The stats showing that there are only a few cases a year prove that. I come from a town that busts people for meth several times weekly, and those are usually found in routine traffic stops! The concern should be on heroin, especially with the article about heroin in Janesville schools. I think there is only room for one major drug in an area. Focus should be placed on heroin and keeping that under control without everyone freaking out about meth with no merit.

On Weigh station conducts hundreds of inspections

As someone in the trucking industry, I appreciate this article. It really shows the people on the road what these stations do. Something that people need to keep in mind though is that just because a tractor has plates from a state does not mean that he or she is from that state. Tractor registrations are done for a number of reasons. Also - having these overweight loads pulled off the roads and required to get legal permits is a good thing - overweight loads running the wrong routes has a lot to do with the roads getting destroyed, costing us even more tax dollars.
