On Overall teen birth rate declines in Wisconsin

You are right. It is also not the fathers final decision, if the child was in his womb, then it would be a different story, however statistically, it is the male who requests the abortion first and also, the male who tends to run when a teenage girl gets pregnant, which is the topic of this story.
Also, I believe that yes, the father can make the choice to either raise that child or let the woman raise the child... just the same as I believe that when it comes to the final decision of carrying the child ends with the woman.

Let me say also, that a fetus cannot survive without the mother (usually) within the first 24 weeks, hence the abortion limitations set up in each state. Most pediatricians don't consider a pregnance viable until 24 weeks. http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/magazi...

A baby in the womb cannot survive without the mother it is attached to, therefore it is the woman’s final decision, not yours, not mine… it is the pregnant woman’s decision. Her decision doesn’t affect my life, it doesn’t affect your life, it only affects her life, and if you are going to say, it affects the life of the unborn child, well then yes, it either begins it or ends what it would have been, however a fetus’s brain and nervous system are not developed enough until at least 20 weeks to feel the pain of an abortion, and even then it is unknown what “pain” is felt. (http://www.ehow.com/facts_5014868_stage-... and http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/...)
I don’t condone late term abortion however sometimes, it is necessary. Although, if a teenager finds out she is pregnant, and doesn’t want it, I would think she would want to get an abortion as soon as possible, before people find out, or she shows signs of pregnancy, which can begin at 3 months (12 weeks).
Abortion is a horrible topic of discussion because humans will never come to a middle ground on the topic. It’s impossible.

TechMasterFlex – You think that the odds of people being poor are because of poor choices? Everyday 2,660 children are born into poverty, or at least 1 of 4 children (http://www.heartsandminds.org/articles/c...). Most of those grow up to stay in that poverty because they never were taught the lessons to rise above it. 32% of persistently impoverished children stay poor into adulthood, and it’s not because of personal choices that they made or because they are “bad” people. It is because they do not have the opportunity, guidance, or personal relationships to get out of poverty. It also doesn’t mean that they are too ignorant to own a gun, or shoot it for that matter. I do believe that people that own guns should have proper training to use them, however I don’t believe that training should cost more than the gun itself. If you can purchase a firearm, training should be included in the package, unless you can prove that you have already received training. I myself wouldn’t know how to shoot a gun correctly, and wouldn’t want to without training. I’d probably shoot my eye out :)

I don't get why anyone would say anything negative about this story... maybe a little jealous?? It's a great story and really cool that someone from our neck of the woods can be as talented (especially with a somewhat disability) and hardworking enough to make a World Record. Congrats!

I find it ridiculous to overcrowd our jails even more, with people that killed fish. If it's that big of a deal, revoke their fishing license, fine them and move on. They are just fish for heaven's sake...
On Schools continue to deal with cellular misbehaving

This is a laughable topic. When I was in school (I am 27), my mom gave me a pager, which I realize is out of date now, but I would compare that to a trac-phone today. I had 10 minutes to call her back or I was grounded. She said that no matter where I was, there was a phone within ten minutes of me, otherwise I was somewhere I shouldn’t be. I always called when I was paged. I finally got a cell phone when I was 17 and had so many minutes a month to use. My mom paid for it yes, but it didn’t included texting. There was a radio conversation a few weeks ago about kids that text over 50,000 in a month… that’s well over 1,500 texts a day!! How are they even learning anything when they are so busy texting each other all day long??
Really, everyone needs to realize that we are approaching 2011 and cell phones are here, not going anywhere, and could eventually be part of our bodies someday…. You never really know.

Truthteller - you DON'T know if these are kids or young adults... because if you did, you would then know who they were and could notify police of such information. Until that happens however, don't be so quick to judge the teens and young adults in our community. It could just as well be a 40 year old that is out of work, or a 65 year old that has no retirement funding... JMO
