I believe alcohol kills more people than cigarettes ever did. If the laws concerning alcohol were as tough as the laws are on smoking a lot of lives would be saved.

peewee - I haven't read a thing that you posted that explained anything to me except that you hate Maltese. I am not a resident of Darien and never was one. You couldn't pay me enough to live in the same town as you. You spout so much hate that I would be afraid it would rub off on me. The only thing I would like to have seen would have been to have a hearing for DeVoy. Then everyone would know positively why he should have been fired. I do not dislike DeVoy as a person, but he did not do the correct thing as the chief.

Hey peewee, did you ever stop to think that the charges you claim were filed against Maltese could have been thrown out because they were stupid to begin with. I'm sure if he actually did anything wrong, you and others like you would be sure he paid for it. If any so called charges against Maltese were real they would never by thrown out. I never did believe there were any real charges in the first place. Just someone making comments with nothing to back it up. You just can't stand an honest policeman, can you peewee?

My opinion remains the same. If DeVoy was innocent and won his case Darien would have to pay his costs. He surely didn't give up to save Darien money or he would not have taken a years pay before he agreed to resign. I feel he was let off way to easy and was certainly paid enough by the village. Now DeVoy can apply for the chiefs job some place else and. Hopefully there won't be any women employees there.

peterwillie is still trying to blame everything on Maltese. He seems to forget that DeVoy agreed to the deal, rather than have everything brought out in the open at a hearing. He could have fought it, and if he were as spotless as some of you seem to think he is, he could have had his job back. Anyone who is really innocent would fight for their honor forever. It's hard to eat crow isn't it willie.
