On Is Levitt being too tough on city workers?

It seems very funny that the administration continues to spend money on "pet" projects and themselves with very little question, but are always ready to pull the wage freeze trigger on the employees that are out working hard everyday. We as "taxpayers" need to remember that a large number of these employees are also Janesville "taxpayers" that in turn help pay their own wages. "Bite the bullet taxpayers". These people deserve a reasonable cost of living increase.

Sounds like the perp got away with nothing in hand but the knife. To this Perp, if you are in dire need of money, I know someone that is actually looking to purchase a Geo Prism, unless the driver's seat is now soiled after this incident. I can put you in touch with the interested party and ultimately the police for being stupid enough to respond to this offer if you do so.
On Should city toughen rules for historic neighborhoods?

They don't build them like they used too! Anyone out there ever here this before? Thank God they don't. Old structures are just that...old. Yes they are beautiful when in pristine condition, but at todays prices especially for "politically" correct replacement parts how does a home owner keep up with not only the costs, but the constant maintenance that a new structure doesn't always require. Don't get me wrong, I live in a large older home that is thankfully just next to the Historic distric line, and whenever I have to repair or perform maintenance (which is constantly) I make sure that I do it right. The problem is the ner-do-wells try to make sure that anyone in the historic district has to answer to them, but where are they when the time comes to scrape paint, repair trim, replace things, etc. I don't see them handing out any help or money, but they're always willing to tell an owner what they can or can't do to their own property. Mind your own business. I wouldn't doubt that half of the committe members live in unkempt "historic" homes and the other half only wish they did! If this is the case, then fix them or buy one yourself. Then we have the city ordinance that gives them this "power". The city itself doesn't even take care of it's own historic buildings. Sometimes easier to tear them down or patch them as cheaply as they can. I also don't see them handing out any low interest loans for people to fix their properties correctly. How about all these dictators pitch in and fix up the Tallman House. I think it needs some work. Wait a minute...they can't because they are too busy looking over color charts for some poor homeowner to choose from.

Another pet project. No Riverside park swimming, no lagoon skating, no skatepark, no waterpark, no dogs in a park. If we have so much money to throw around, why not buy the GM plant. We can open all the windows in one part and flood the floor for ice skating, We could flood the pits in another area for swimming and add a few waterslides in for fun, and I'm sure the skateboarders would have a blast in the rest of the plant. Big enough to let the dogs run around with their owners too. Oh yeah and plenty of free parking.

Once again Javon Bea at his best (worst?) Spending money on buildings, football players signing autographs and propaganda literature everywhere. When is he going to wake up and realize that the number one area that most people relate to the Mercy system is a trip through the Emergency Room. Yes he fancied up the waiting room so that your "extended stay" while waiting for care isn't as bad, but hasn't done anything with the outdated, cramped, understaffed Emergency Department. Wise up and take a look at what Beloit did with their ER. Drive through ambulance bays, EMS room, and patient care facilities that are outstanding. Yes I'm sure Beloit still has the classic ER problems that face all ER's but Mr Bea needs to remember that patient care starts at the door. Give your staff and patients a place that works and things will be better! Quit wasting it on all the other "pretty" things.
