On Local 95, GM reach tentative deal

Here's the deal; if you want to post some extraordinary venom, in the form of your anti-GM or anti-UAW opinion, put your correct name to it. Otherwise, let's leave the keyboard heroics to the real writers.

The money should remain in the school district's health care program funding for teachers. It is absolutely regressive to hold these monies from the teachers during their contract negotiations, and hold it for what? For somebody else to figure out a way to raid those monies for a personal pork barrel? Health Care is not going to be getting cheaper and our teachers deserve the best.(No, neither my spouse nor I are teachers.)

There are already fees for using the landfills; our property taxes and the stated fees at each of the fills. Large loads get charged. If you want to "green" up the environment, change the traffic light patterns to something that promotes traffic flow. Running the same anti-cruiseing light pattern on Milton Ave. for regular travelers/commuters is causing more congestion and pollution than most of our industry. This exact topic has come before the city in several town hall style meetings A LOT. Yet, they do nothing, and we have people driving 35-40 mph down side streets just to avoid the lights on Milwaukee St. and Milton Ave..

The light rail system that is in place in the Minn./St Paul area has been a gem to their communities and 100s of thousands of people use it every year. Contact Judy Robson and your other local reps. to get the light rail corridor between Harvard Ill./Janesville/Milton/Evansville/Madison in motion. We can't wait for the Feds to fund this for the possible 2016 Olympics in Chicago. We need it now!

I'm with Spanky too-keep the Rock county taxpayers out of it. Let 4-H fund their own upgrades.

I guess I didn't see any standouts in being helpful. It seems there is still a disconnect between local/county/state authorities on communications? On just basic communications such as road closures. Is there a website somewhere that these things were discussed publicly? I did not see it relayed anywhere.

Thank You Mr. Leute for a well balanced report on "what's what."
There will probably not be a start up on July 14th. By Wednesday the 25th GM will probably announce a 2-4 week lay off after the Shutdown, and a "return to work" of August 11th. However, the 60 day closure/idle notice was given to the state on June 3rd; the plant will be idled fully when we leave on June the 26th. They're saving money as there are new contracts to fulfill with China. Yes, there's a negative market for gas guzzlers, but China is where the real money is at, not on Janesville. Watch "Roger & Me" to refresh your GM memories and buckle down.
Thank You again J.L., Sincerely.
On Doyle: GM news a 'kick in the gut'

Did anyone hear Doyle say he was sorry? It is people like Doyle, Robson, Hixon, Kohm, Feingold, etc that created the policies that have led to the high gas prices and thus the low demand for SUVs and trucks. Want to point fingers? Point them at the "greens" and "libs". This is what they wanted, this is what they got. Lets remember this the next election.
What? Libs? The oil industry here in the US is essentially a monopoly that is currently under investigation right now. How is it the fault of all those folks you point out?

On When the Janesville School District ends its year with a surplus of money set aside for health care costs, where should those funds go?

So, instead of asking where should the money go, maybe we should be asking; Why is the Janesville School District holding an extra $30 million in what is supposed to be teachers' pay/benefits? Caddyshack234 touched on the Wisconsin Statutes about pay/benefits being lumped together by the Law. Is the JSD in violation of Wisconsin Statutes? Kind of sounds like it.
