On Amid tears, there is hope for the future

It is true that the jobs that Lear and LSI had were once GM jobs (I wouldn't call them SCABS) It was never going to be that they would make the same as GM, otherwise it would have been senseless to let those jobs go out of the plant.

Thanks JNR - you are completely right!!! I cannot imagine nurse4u being a nurse seems to me she has no compassion! It goes back to if you haven't anything good to say don't say anything. It is a sad day for Jnvl and the people at the plant worked hard and built quality trucks. Those people had a terrible day and right before Chistmas. Have some compassion for others. The plant will certainly leave a void in this area that will not be felt for awhile. God Bless everyone!!

Gee maybe someplace like Stoughton Trailer will move in. They treat their people real good(ha) You get laid off if you didn't smile and kiss butt. They pick and choose. As well as the working conditions. There are reasons people need unions!! Ask people that have worked in some of those places. I forgot, most of you are all about your opinions and slamming GM people

Just remember when they leave as you say you want, they take their wife & children that are all consumers. SO when your restaurants, stores, & movie theatres close we'll see how happy you all are then. Along with the value of your homes dropping cuz there will be plenty of good deals out there. Also the city services that will be cut. It goes on and on!! This has happened in other places, we'll see how things are in this town in a year or 2. Good luck, but of course you don't need it cuz you got all the answers!!

THANKS Chad Vader- Stereotyping people is just wrong. I have an American made vehicle that was vandalized at the mall. It happens, it isn't right. People need to leave their hands off other's property!

Anonomouse- It sounds like you just like to hear yourself talk!! With your, I don't dare this and I don't care that!!! Start caring, there are alot of others involved with this and they aren't all the GM people you seem to have such an issue with!! One of the most ridicules statements you made was I don't care if the profits go back to Japan. You sound like a bitter person with an ATTITUDE!!

I agree with concernedtoo. There are mostly negative people bashing people that do work hard and they sit back on the thrones and ridicule. There are lots of people that have worked there and quit cuz they could not do the work that working on the line entailed. Most of the jobs are really hard on your body parts. Then, of course , there are those that all think they were too good to work in a factory. We all make choices. None of you are slamming the banking industry for their practices. Do you think they aren't really making the big bucks? Just be careful what you ask for...they could be coming for you next!!

I see none of these Senators and people in the positions of deciding who gets help and who doesn't is willing to give up any of their wages or perks that they have (and there are plenty) but they are ready to put unreasonable requests on the people working for a living. Most of them, as we know, have a grudge against the UAW for not supporting them. It awful that they would rather take the entire country down than to be reasonable and look at the whole picture, especially after they gave money to the financial group with no strings attached. If you think the entire country's economy would not fall like a house of cards, think again!

OK these people that did vote Bush in, I sure wouldn't brag about it. McCain was walking in his shadow. Did you see the Bush's smiling and telling about their new house they purchased in the richest area in TX? Bush with his cocky smile talking about cooking burgers and just hanging around. He should be ashamed after this country is in this mess that he sits up bragging about what his plans are! Of course it should be no surprise after the last 8 years!

Buying foreign is largely to blame for our country's problems today. While you are pushing Toyota, Honda, Kia's do you realize the profit go back to Japan or wherever? The profits do not stay in the country. Further more, has anyone ever saw the report of how much any of those car companies gave to the disaster 9/11. Look at the Salvation Army, Echo, United Way, Boy's & Girl's Club campaigns, they are concerned about the drop in their amounts for the coming year with the plant closing. Whether you like the plant here or not, the GM employees & the UAW were generous to this community, and there are lots of them that do not even live in this town but spend money at the restaurants, gas stations and stores. Not quite sure if people get that!
