On Mercy: Expansion plan not solely competitive

I think that mercy does am outstanding job and I am glad they are competing against St. Mary's. they need to compete just like any other business. I don't hear anyone telling MacDonald's that they shouldn't put a restaurant on every corner. Is that necessary?
Good for you Mercy and Javon for fighting for the people of Janesville to help keep health care in town instead of driving to Madison and potentially dying enroute!

Nice job to mercy. And I really like the messages in the community. I think Mercy has a great heart and does listen to the patients and tries to bring care close to those who need it- like on the north side of Janesville. And, of course they want to compete- who wouldn't.

I go to many events around town with my family and Mercy is always sponsoring, donating time and money to many... many... many events and organizations....and they are always offering free screenings.
Too bad this was project denied- I say go back and try again!

Come on people. Mercy is a great organization. They are vital to the community. They have excellent physicians, Excellent staff. Many were in favor of competition with St. Mary building a multi-million $$ facility....so what is wrong with more choices??
I say GO MERCY!

I think Mercy has always been very interested in bringing services close to our patients. As I understand it, they have had this concept in the works for a while....And it really is a brilliant idea. It is also a great sign that businesses like Mercy have the confidence that Janesville is a great community to live, grow and continue to support!
And another point I'd like to make is that there are great physicians and staff at Mercy who work hard to do whatever it takes to bring
compassionate quality care to the people in our community. We are lucky they are here.

Who is this Dr. Green and how do you know so much about Mercy's Trauma verification? It's amazing how so many people have opinions they know nothing about.
Mercy IS a level 2 trauma center which means they DO provide everything that UW does minus burns, & transplants.
Level 2 DOES mean that they can take care of severe traumas. The proof is in the pudding when they have stats that 500 plus traumas have been brought into Mercy by ambulance or helicopter. They are definitely meeting an UNMET need. You obviously have a beef against them.... so get over it.
It disgusts me to read the few of you who are consistently blogging your negativity. The truth is that Mercy does a great job! They provide outstanding care and we should all be proud to have them in our town.
PS- Dr. Green-I hope your son or daughter doesn't fall off their bicycle and has a cerebral hematoma and you have to take him or her by ambulance to Madison or Rockford....that is a long drive when your brain is bleeding and minutes are the difference between life and death.

I say Hats off to Mercy for seeing that they may have had some issues in their ED, letting go the old physicians and hiring 10 new board certified trauma trained ED physicians.
Give these new doctors a chance.

Listen, Mercy is a first class operation. Shame on those of you who are critical of an organization that is trying to BRING better services and more jobs to this community. Can't you show some support for this? It's always so easy to think the next guy is going to do a much better job (St. Mary's) The facts show that they will not have specialty care at their new hospital, they will not ever be thinking about upgrading that hospital to a level II AND don't forget the "accidents" that happen in there hospital like the young girl who died recently because of a mistake in surgery.

I just do not understand the citizens of Janesville. This is a heart warming story about a guy who made something of himself. He has brought so much to Janesville and you guys are griping about it? I just do not understand!
My daughter recently fell off her bike and hit her head on the sidewalk. She had bleeding on her brain. If they wouldn't have had a neurosurgeon available at Mercy IN OUR TOWN she would have died. Everyone thinks St. Mary's is so great. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE PEOPLE. They do not have any specialists there, you will be shipped to Madison for anything that is serious. If she would have gone to St.Marys Janesville she would have been shipped to Madison, she would not have made it.
It disgusts me to listen to all the stupidity in this town......and when I hear comments like these, I feel embarrassed to be a resident of Janesville. WAKE UP PEOPLE. He is doing a great job!
